Wait...wait...wait...

So Jerry Boyle had zero problems with people on this board (and the MSM) pushing COVID death porn during the first wave.

You remember...the fear...the panic...the refrigerated trucks...I never saw you once comment how this isn't very responsible.

So it's OK to be wrong when pushing fear and panic.

But when I ask the question...in the face of a GIANT third wave of infections...how has the hospital system been able to cope...now it's time to take a much more nuanced and thoughtful approach????

Wow.

Right now as I type this I'm in San Diego.

From the San Diego County .gov site --

Link for Confirmed COVID-19 Cases by Date of Illness Onset (12/10/20):
https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/conte...ss%20Onset.pdf

Right now San Diego County is seeing just over 2k new cases daily vs. the previous peak of just over 700 new cases daily back in July.

Link for COVID-19-Associated Hospitalizations by Date of Admission (12/10/20):
https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/conte...20Admitted.pdf

Right now San Diego County is seeing 40 new hospitalizations daily vs. the previous peak of 37 new hospitalizations daily back in July.

So yeah, at least in my neck of the woods:

New cases daily are surging.

But hospitalizations haven't been tracking on the same trajectory.

Who knows?

Maybe hospitalizations will suddenly triple overnight?

And with vaccines about to be rolled out - maybe his hairness will order private citizens to wear these so government health officials can deliver electric shocks to anyone who gets within 100 feet of a bar or restaurant?

Wait wat? Just so we're clear, I'm still on the side of "oh shit this is very serious, let's take drastic measures." FWIW, I'm more hopeful now given that we have vaccines on the horizon...

Some COVID-19 patients flown out of state as S.D. hospital ICU capacity dwindles

COVID-19: St. Cloud Hospital ICU has been at or above capacity for weeks

https://www.sctimes.com/story/news/2...ks/3878038001/

Arizona hospitalizations rise with 90% of hospital beds full as state reports 4,928 new COVID-19 cases, 73 deaths

https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...hs/3878130001/

Fortunately, there's a big difference between now and the spring - doctors have learned best practices/protocols to treat Covid patients and therapeutics have emerged.

I guess none of this info was covered by the GOAT?

The last I heard, NYC still has 100 dead bodies in refrigerated trucks with no plans of what to do with them. Someone must have a good contract supplying the refers.

Another catchy reply with the inclusion of GOAT. You guys seem to have this down to a science.

Too bad you can't address the actual science.

Imagine I showed you the current JH graph back in April/May...or even June/July...and told you this is how it's going to look in December.

So I'll ask again. How has our hospital system survived to date in the face of such a massive third wave of COVID infections?

I guess the answer has to be...we've shored up our hospital infrastructure...built a shit-ton more facilities with hospital beds and hired a shit-ton more doctors, nurses, etc.

How else to explain being able to deal with this monstrous third wave.

We've both included thoughts regarding your lazy question. At least respond w equal respect and read them. Or acknowledge you're not actually interested in the intent of your question and were just looking to troll. Come on man, you're the owner here, strive for better...

You can't answer my question, can you?

You've thrown out a bunch of vague responses...and plenty of personal attacks...but no answer.

Imagine I told you in April/May or even June/July that in December, we'd have a terrorist attack EVERY DAY that kills as many people as were lost on 9/11. What do you think your response would have been? What do you think Trump's response would have been. Hm....

What personal attacks? Accusing you of thinking lazily? I suppose that's personal, but no more personal than saying your argument is flawed? Certainly not as severe as the personal attacks thrown by the more conservative members on this board, including yourself...

Did you miss post #29? I actually tried to throw you a bone, dang...

Cigarette smoking kills almost as many people EVERY DAY that were lost on 9/11...year after year after year...death porn scare numbers aren't very effective when you pull back the lens.

Here is my point.

It was the HEIGHT of irresponsibility to scare the living **** out of people back in the spring...with the specter of IMMINENT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM COLLAPSE...because if that TRULY WERE THE CASE, then our healthcare system should be just about DEAD at this point given the graph I posted.

No amount of mask-wearing or social distancing or lockdown would have been able to save a hospital system teetering on the brink back in the spring (like we were told), given the shitload of cases currently being thrown at it.

We haven't gone and built hundreds of new hospitals around the country...or massively increased the number of healthcare workers...so there is no way we should be able to deal with what is going on out there right now.

Unless of course we were nowhere near the dire straits we were being told we were, back in the spring.

Should've scared them more...

Maybe we wouldn't be losing a 9/11 on the daily now...

This is very lazy arguing... I think you're brighter than this.
