Singapore ends horse racing

I personally find this very depressing - am a big fan of late night Kranji races

The quality of horses has declined dramatically during and since COVID and it hasn't come back as a destination sport, and would imagine Malaysian racing in KL and Panang will pick up the slack, but not a great future sign for the sport

Singapore is a major global city without much sports activity in general so this is extra confusing and concerning to be sure

I guess the land became too valuable, Singapore is a small place

Pretty much sums it up and in a high density place like Singapore it was probably never going to last.

I don't know anything about Singapore racing, but given some of the successes in the region I would have guessed they had a vibrant market.

Must be some other reason as well.

I've been to HK numerous times and racing is very much a part of the culture. It has one of the highest population densities in the world.

Had an apartment there where my bed touched all 3 walls. It was about a 300 square foot 1 bedroom and that's likely an overestimate.

Happy Valley is it's own thing and very unusual I will admit, but Sha Tin, the main HK track, is out in the New Territories which is a far less dense part of Hong Kong with a lot more open space.
