Churchill-Ellis Park

Just heard that Churchill Downs will be moving it's current meet to Ellis Park-I believe it will be happening by next Saturday

Sometimes I wonder if I've made the right decision to walk away from day to day on track activities.

Then I read something like this and know how happy I am to be out and wonder why I stayed so long.

When I read the first posting I talked myself out of lambasting the guy for such a frivolous unsubstantiated rumor.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Churchill Downs is going to run at Ellis FREAKIN Park!!

If this isn't the inmates, Peta, Hisa et al running the asylum then I can't possibly think what is.

Even in the story it said they've found NOTHING wrong with the track and no clear medical cause for the deaths.

That's because it's a FREAKIN STATISTICAL ANOMALY.

Over the course of the calendar year the number of horses euthanized isn't going to change UNLESS it goes down because of the positive measures that have been helping over the past decade or so.

What an insane GOTHIC overreaction.

:b ang:

Here's me not living and dying anymore with idiocy like this

Vic---I don't post bullshit rumors here like many others-not my style--I also don't understand why this is happening as they found nothing wrong--makes no sense to me

They had 8 breakdowns the first week and can't find anything wrong with the track, but are moving operations to a thirld level track?

Yeah, right. This from the guys who couldn't grow grass in Kentucky last year.

Will the Arlington Derby at CD noe the AMAELP?

We're not confident our surface is safe. So, out of concern for the horses we are moving to Ellis next week - but first, let's run a few more races here.

IMO they couldn't find anything wrong with the track because there isn't anything wrong with the track.

If there was barns like Asmussen, Cox, McPeek a guy like Ian Wilkes or Randy Morse would have hightailed it long ago.

Race horses are going to break down if they run over cotton balls. It's something we've all had to reconcile even though we hate it.

This is a MORONIC overreaction to nothing.

What happens when they return and on the first day back a horse breaks down. Through no fault except of the inevitable numbers?

Close CD forever.

UNBELIEVEABLE!!

If Churchill could run 1 weekend a year, they'd be happy. (OK, maybe 2 weekends, the lead in to the Derby, and the actual Derby week.)

The Kentucky Derby has simply come to mean way too much to this sport.

I don't get it when you say the Kentucky Derby has simply come to mean way too much to this sport--Granted I'm not saying it's the greatest but it's like saying all the sports championships don't mean anything--if you feel that way fine but I very rarely bet the Deby and still think it's a highlight for the sport

Sounds like this is their attempt at damage control.

churchill

wonder will the purses stay the same. What about all the people that work at churchill. What about the horses will they ship the 2 hours from churchill and the two hours back each race day.I am sure ellis has not got that many stalls
This is going to be a BIG PROBLEM.Some owners said they should cancel this weekends races also since they have a problem with the rest of the meet
Also in our local news they said ellis park only found out when churchill released the statement
