After numerous viewings-mostly at my son's behest-I still can't decide if I like the Oldman version. It's elaborate and spares no expense on set pieces, but Oldman's performance is almost TOO much, as the character becomes immersed in all the nuance and costuming. At several points Oldman even breaks the 4th wall. The result kills most of the fright for me and makes the movie into more gothic romance than horror.

And the great Anthony Hopkin's could have killed the Van Helsing role, but instead hams it up uncharacteristically, almost as if he signed on for a dramedy.

seen him less than a handful of times. I don't watch tvg. I don't read his/their tweets. Seemed like a sharp dresser and I remember him for his lucky Giacomo pick which I Youtube'd after seeing a thread on here.

The firing was bullshit, but the reality is that neither the industry or the populace is willing or capable of having a productive semi-honest discussion

Unfortunately, the industry can't tolerate a cavalier attitude towards doping, but especially breakdowns and deaths.

you gotta show a horse or an ex-racehorse guide pony, and tell how he "Loves his job"

You gotta show a trainer or a woman next to a horse in a stall like it's a pet

you gotta show an owner with a cancer battle, or a handicapped kid

you gotta show some after care things, bonus if it's a horse people have heard of

when a horse(s) breaks down during a race, you gotta announce the rest of the race in 'hushed tones'

the industry absolutely NEEDS these types of propaganda to be pumped out in a regular rhythm just to keep pace with the changing landscape ,and the incessant rival propaganda. These groups are really making an effort with the horse racing is bad propaganda. They will eventually kill the public televised and easily accessible aspect of our sport if things continue. I'll be long since dead, but some of you and your kids may see it happen, if we don't take the propaganda initiative, and preserve strong connections in business and politics.
For now, they are mainly grass-roots 'party poopers' who celebrate horse deaths in their own way by trying to profit by using the deaths to demonize the sport and monetize themselves.

Surprised this topic is 10 pages long but whatever.

If his firing gives guys like Rich Perloff , " The Sarge " Nick Hines and Kurt Hoover more air time this will benefit the viewers.

sorry, was trying to embed this tweet. don't know how

Usually posting a tweet works by clicking on the tweet and then copy/paste the address into this forum (no tags needed).

However, if there's an unusually long website address up top, you'd have to click on the name of the tweeter (in this case "Chris Crestik") and then find the tweet and try again.
