Texas racing is surviving on state subsidies. It's embarrassing.

In an environment where very few tracks would survive on handle alone, and many are surviving only due to funds from alternate gaming, the short-term survival of Texas racing on a subsidy tied to equine-related purchases seems to me not all that embarrassing and at least somewhat logical/sensible.

It is embarrassing that Texas is a huge state that abandoned ADW's and exported signals in favor of a direct subsidy to purse structures.
