Not sure a relapse is the right title to this thread, how is a relapse related to trying to strangle someone. When I opened it thought it was going to be another failed breathalyzer test.

seriously; Praying for Kent and the alleged victim.
Other than the press release, I don't know any info about what actually happened here.

Was 8 in 1987 when he was a big star at Pimlico and I'd often be there along the rail.

His troubles well documented. I was surprised and rooting for him again this year, as he's had yet another comeback and at times was flashing top-level riding. Not going to make excuses for him, and not going to denounce him (at this point in the story) either.

This guy had it all!
He was on top of the world and could not control his demons!
You can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves!
This adds to a long list of things that he will be remembered by, Unfortunate for him, It won't be his riding skills!

Similar to the Walter Case situation. Possibly greatest harness driver of all time. Banished from the game until he hit his sixties and only allowed to drive in his home state of Maine. Truly horrible. All the talent in the world yet the demons come out. Usually related to drugs and/or alcohol

Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux was released from the St. Martin’s Parish correctional facility in Louisiana on a $25,000 bond on Friday after being arrested earlier that day for domestic abuse and battery, according to a spokesman from the St. Martin’s Parish Sheriff’s Dept.

On Saturday, officials with The Stronach Group, which operates Golden Gate Fields, Gulfstream Park, Laurel, Pimlico, and Santa Anita, said in a memo that Desormeaux was “not welcome” to ride at company-owned tracks.

In a situation unrelated to the legal issues in Louisiana, Desormeaux is scheduled to appear at a hearing before Santa Anita stewards Luis Jauregui, Will Meyers and Kim Sawyer on Thursday regarding a complaint issued by California Horse Racing Board investigators on Jan. 20 for an incident at an RV park on Del Mar property on Nov. 23, 2021, in which Desormeaux got into an argument with a girlfriend. The incident led to a response from security officials.

IMHO, alcohol is the worst. I've seen it destroy a couple of people I know. Nasty shit.

Ta tink he was on Bay Watch too. Sad, and I agree with the alcohol comment earlier, seen many a good man fall.

Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux, who has been suspended since March for failing to appear at a hearing with California stewards, is scheduled to appear before Del Mar stewards on July 29 regarding a complaint issued by California Horse Racing Board investigators regarding alcohol use at an RV park on Del Mar property last November.

Desormeaux was suspended by Santa Anita stewards on March 4 for failing to appear at a hearing the preceding day regarding the racing board’s complaint.

The suspension came weeks after Desormeaux was arrested on charges of domestic abuse and battery in Louisiana.

RV parks are the issue here.
