If you have a spare 58 minutes you might enjoy this video. It's eight years old but I don't think things have changed much between now and then. They don't talk about sex for those who expected that to be in the video.

Didn't want to start a new thread as this brilliant idea isn't one of the CET properties but that of the all powerful MGM resorts. Thought those that visit Vegas would find this interesting but really only if you rent a car or drive there.

Thx for the video headsup Canarsie..
My favorite line from that video was: "When you are winning, gambling makes perfect sense.".....

I just noticed this video that you recommended to me. Canarsie. I watched it...but I can't say that I enjoyed it. It did make me think, though...

I didn't think of high rollers as I watched this. These are sick people.

It's a mistake to assume that most high-rollers are "healthy people".

Our definitions may be different. Anyone who's lifestyle is affected when winning/losing large sums is not a high roller. I think the current casino term is 'whale'.
The gamblers in this film were degenerate addicts. And the way the casino managed them was despicable.

There is a distinct difference between a mere "high-roller" and a "whale". There are many high-rollers...but the true "whales" are a rare sighting...and the casinos fight among themselves to win the affection of these rarest of mammals. ANYONE who bets a lot of money is called a "high-roller" by the casino...and most of these players literally DESTROY themselves in the process of maintaining their "preferred" casino status. If you and I went to Las Vegas tomorrow and started making $500 bets at the blackjack table...we would quickly get classified as "high-rollers"...even if we had embezzled our gambling stake from our employer. Some casinos will even categorize us as "high-rollers" if we keep making $100 bets. The "whale", on the other hand, bets the obscene amounts which warrant flying him in by private jet...comping him "unavailable" suites...and giving him private tables on which to do his gambling.
The high-rollers typically go broke...as do some of the "whales". The "whales' start OUT not being "affected" by the gambling that they do...because they are usually billionaire businessmen in the "straight" world. But when you are a TRUE degenerate...you can even gamble away BILLIONS.

In the face of casinos going bankrupt, horse tracks shutting down, looks like our friends to north of the border are doing fine......or is horse racing being squeezed out?
Woodbine Entertainment lobbying to expand Mohawk Racetrack into a full-blown casino:

3 years ago or 2 years ago they spoke of horses being slaughtered due to the decoupling up north. Fort Erie talked of calling it quits as did various harness tracks.
Then I see they somehow kept afloat without direct slots revenue. Mohawk charges 'rent' to the racino.
Think a 5 year subsidy was created with Fort Erie. Not sure about other details. Maybe some of our neighbors up north can clarify?
I know I like Hastings Race Course amongst other Canadian tracks. Would love to see them continue to do well.
I'm still sad Blue Bonnets is gone as my family used to go there back in the 70's.

Harry Reid is helping save Caesars by adding a section to spending bill just for them. I wonder what he has gotten out of the deal, besides the satisfaction of helping (temporarily?) save 20,000 nice Vegas jobs.
