I've gone through the results and that is the largest ex pool of hte year at the Mountain, and the mutuel pools were decent as well. We'll have some numbers in a bit. Mutuel pool avg is about $50k and ex pool around 55k usually, tri pool around 50k..

A net profit of $18 as a result of my $50 in buycott wagers.
$1 wheel/backwheel with ALL
$1 BOX
$4 BOX
If the holds on for second, that profit would have been to the tune of around $680.
I will take my 36% ROI on the evening and parlay it into next week's event.

CJ fig players might have done something there. His top two last out figs were 9 and 7.

Thanks to everyone. Looks like a solid bump from the averages at the Mountain, and it looks at first blush (especially with the bump in mutuel pool from the 55k average) we hit close to 30k this week, which would be a record for this little venture.
Thanks folks!!!

The pool was definitely bumped, but the amount is lower than I had hoped. Either people don't like Mountaineer, don't like exactas, or our HANA base has not grown over the three weeks of this project (or people are already getting burned out?).
Maybe this should me a monthly party instead of weekly?
(and by the way, I didn't have the 9 on top).

Our impact was difficult to measure tonight. I suggest two bets the same race next week at Turf Paradise. A quinella and a double. Their double pools are around 5 grand and their quinella pools are around 3.5 grand.
Not crazy about an Arizona track since internet gambling is illegal there, but it is accessible for most, and many of the other pools are good since there is little competition on Tuesdays.

I know horseplayers love to gamble (& get value doing so), but I think we should be betting into a pool that actually shows up on the toteboard!
A HANA "SHOW of STRENGTH", betting into one races' show pool, would be much more effective in providing VISUAL evidence that we can "Rock the Tote" with our group! Doubling a tracks' exacta pool will only impress the track getting the handle & the HANA members willing to dig up the pool figs and compare them with previous numbers.
However, If there is $24,000 in the win pool, $11,000 in the place pool, & $30,000 IN THE SHOW POOL with no bridgejumping scenario, THAT WILL get the attention of the average joe!!! IMO

The pools were up across the board. From the 3rd race to the 9th. So I think people were noticing, because a lot of people were putting money into the other pools besides the exacta.
But I like the idea of betting into the show pool, but the race track may not appreciate it.

Unless it is a minus pool, show bets are the ones that give tracks the best breakage on average, though I am talking in a collective sense and not in an individual case.

Yes that is what I was assuming, HANA may create a minus pool and the race track may not appreciate that. Which would work counter to what is trying to be accomplished.
