I do horse racing.

This makes for a very fortunate life.

I even get to bet occasionally.

Chris Farley of SNL fame started in community theatre in Wisconsin.
I think it was about 10 years after you were there.

I bet horses from noon to 5...bet sports from 6 to 9:30...and play poker from midnight to 6 am. The older I get...the more important it becomes to me to live a balanced life.

Hey...I said I wouldn't post anymore in the POLITICAL threads. This is a nice, "get acquainted" thread...and there is no hatred here.

Yes...I saw that we were closed here for 2 days. And I wonder if the shutdown will do any good.

Tell you the truth, with all the BC action, some of us didn't miss it at all.
Without the distraction, I was able to make far more intelligent losing wagers than ever before!

Republicans should love community theatre. No minimum wage. No wage at all for most. Seriously, knowing that you have made someone’s night a little better is the best reward there is.

Yes...the same thing happened to me. I lost money on the BC...but I lost it thoughtfully.

This thread started after the shutdown. I’m gratified by the number of responses and the tone.

Maybe a shutdown for all the major racing days should be considered .

Speaking of racing ,Florida voted overwhelmingly to end greyhound racing (almost 70 %).Since 11 of the 17 dog tracks in the country are there, looks like the death knell for that game.

Edit:Meant to put this in one of the election night threads.

So far this year we've been to Granbury,, Georgetown, Gonzales, and our annual trip to Nacogdoches (all over east Tx that day). McKinney town square is a good destination but it's just up the road from us. Can't count that as a Daytrip but we go twice a year. Cool place.

Spring and Fall festivals here are cool to go to, we never miss them in May and October.

Very lucky to live in an area with a lot to do, and cool places to visit ithin a four hour drive
In 1966 I spent three months at Fort Hood between basic at Fort Polk and heading to Korea. I did not have much time to get out around.

One thing I won’t forget is the cricket migration. Are you familiar with this phenomenon?
