This contest is how my daughter got started with WinStar. She won or placed in it one year and got tickets to the BC in WinStar's box, a tour of the farm, and a swag bag of goodies.

WELL HUMORED is entered in the Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland tomorrow (Fri., 4/20) with Jose Ortiz listed. Horse was rested up down here at Classic Mile after running that top at Tampa in January.
Tough post - as Trump would say, " We'll see what happens."

WELL HUMORED didn't run a step on Friday, but the weekend wasn't a total loss for the syndicate as ABOUNDING JOY, another syndicate horse, broke its maiden on Sunday in the 5th race.

Bumping this thread - ABOUNDING JOY ran a creditable 4th yesterday in the Minaret at Tampa after acting up at the gate and missing the start. She should be much better next time.

Bumping the thread again. Here's a video taken this past Saturday up at the Spa by a syndicate member. In it, trainers Brisset and Mott discuss the future prospects of several of the horses owned by the group, one of which is seen galloping on the Oklahoma training track.

To me it would just be all about the "thrill" of being part of a good racing stable, getting to travel around to different tracks where "your" horses run, box seats to an event, winners circle photos to frame and have for fond memories, getting to "root" for your horse with fingers crossed....more about personal involvement that goes beyond a wager on an ADW. More like perks you get from a casino when you spend some extra $$ with them.
I don't think most people expect to make a huge $$ haul (though of course, with the right horse taking you to the big money races, it could happen!) when they buy 1 share in a syndicate. I could be wrong about that, we are all different. My purpose for doing it would be more along what I just described.

...and PS I think its great that your daughter did welll in a Winstar contest and that she is having a lot of FUN with this. To me, that is what recreational sports fandom is all about, and I am a recreational player, not a professional gambler, so I'm sure there are many others who would find this quite appealing.

Yes, clicknow, she's in it mostly for the "thrill" of ownership. The syndicate was not profitable last year, and she didn't even have a tax deduction because it's set up as a "club," not a partnership.
Not sure what happens if they have a profit in 2019 (not likely, though).

Another bump to this thread. The syndicate's filly, NEW DAY DAWNING, looks very promising. She "pissed in" today in the 5th at GP with Irad petting her head before the finish line with all the other jocks whipping. Might be a good one, dirt or turf.

The syndicate scored a major coup today in the CCA Oaks, running 1/2 and taking down 75% of the $350,000 purse. I'll see if I can merge or link another post here.
