Bridgestone, yokohama, toyo also good tires. You have to stay away from the chinese made tires. Beware the Michelin tires you buy at Walmart or Sams are not the same tires that you would by at a Muchelin tire dealer. Other brands may make a cheaper tire for the discount stores. Tires are like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Top of the line: Goodyear, Bridgestone. Used on Corvettes. Run-flats available.

I am somewhat of a tire geek, do lots of research. It depends on what type of car you are putting them on and type of tire (summer, winter, performance, all season). All the brands you listed have top tires in the categories I listed above.

I usually go to tirerack.com as they have lots of reviews and great information/explanation on all the ratings a tire has, such as speed rating/UTOG.

They will ship to your local shop and prices are very competitive. My advice is finds the exact tire you want to purchase then shop multiple online retailers . I recommend always getting the warranty package that covers all type of damage.

Shop those prices to your local tire dealers and they will usually match price or come close, its always easier to purchase that warranty from your local dealers over purchasing it from the online retailers due to ease of usage.

tires are expensive now. Costco sells Michelin's for about $250 a piece mounted and balance and if you buy 4 they give you $150 off

I second the vote for Tire Rack. They have good ratings and reviews for all your choices.

Have fun sorting through all the sales gimmicks, I found the worst ones are buy two get two free. I like Cooper Tires as they are USA made, I buy them at Merchant's Tire which is now NTB. Mine go on an SUV, you should probably mention what they are going on.

Anyone else know what a joke tire mileage warranty are?

As mentioned don't put Chinese tires on your vehicle even if they are free?

It pisses me off that all lawn tractor, wheelbarrow, and hand truck tires are all made in China now, and crap. I am sure tire slime makers love that.

1. Love high-speed Michelins.

Never buy anything but high speed tires.
2. If you get a good price on tires, the warranty is usually worthless.
  • Let's say that you pay $1,200 for 4 tires.
  • Let's say this is a very good price, competitively speaking.
  • Let's say that these tires are guaranteed for 50,000 miles.
  • Let's say that after 25,000 miles, they need to be replaced.

Now it is time to get your 50% pro-rated adjustment on a new set.

That's when you find they they will give you 50% off the price of a new set of tires at the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price!

(The fact that nobody on the entire planet pays anywhere near retail price, is completely irrelevant.)

You find that the MSRP is $689 per tire = $2,756 for 4.

Your adjusted cost is now $1,378.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me.
(With the actual numbers.)

if your michelins didn't last but 25000 miles you may have some other issues going on, I usually get 50-70k out of them, unless they are the soft compound tires for some sports cars.

Those weren't Michelins.

They were Goodyears that came with a new car I bought.

The next new car I purchased, I upgraded the tires before leaving the lot.

Got 65,000 miles on those tires.

I stay the hell off I-95 at all cost on anything less than 50 miles. Back roads here aren't in the bast shape and lots of turns and curves. I get about 60% of what tires are rated at for mileage, I figure that is normal for conditions.

In my experience there is no normal mileage for tires. It depends on the type of roads you drive on, how aggressively you accelerate and brake, whether you keep the tires properly inflated and how close your car is to ideal wheel alignment.

Well Guys....

Going thru this is eye opening ...couldn't believe all the brands out there...

Walmart is unbelievable on all the brands they offer....

My wife drives to work 2 days a week totaling 100 miles ...Honda 2014 Pilot

So I dont want to go completely unknowns...

Best deal that I was going with was Michelins at Costco for about a little over $900 driving to NJ from NY for a sales tax break...
But I heard a few say that they are not the same...."Blemished" ???
Hard to believe that CostCo would do something like that to ruin their reputation...

So , this is what I went with....

Everyone knows Tire Rack....but the 2nd best on-line retailer is Tire Buyer...

and fortunately they have a 15% Install Promotion going on now...

My Pilot had Generals on it last 4 years and was very happy ...

So I went with General again.....$700 and another $80 when Pep Boys installs them...

Very happy consumer

PS- My 2009 Rav4 has 5 year old Generals on them on now

Might be going thru this again but anything is possible cause its mine and who cares about me

thxs again guys.....good to divert with life once in a while...
