For those of you who believe We The People may be loose and attempt a wire-to-wire win, this could be interesting; 2012 Brooklyn Handicap ( we run the Brooklyn every year at the same 12f 1,1/2M distance as the Belmont, usually Friday or same card as Belmont Stakes ).
This time Ramon Dominguez on the loose speed favorite. One of his pace rivals missed the break, so was 'loose' even in a bigger field. Had to dig for these ( See Da'Tara in Big Browns no-show attempt, or AP and Justify win as generational talents in Bel S. wire fashion ).
- Most interesting to me is the runners up. The riders of El Daafer ?6 and Arthurs Tale #1 have to watch it...
They move up into position early and around the 1M point.
Those runners able to position into contention were the ones who could stay bunched up and positions barely changed in the Stretch Run...
MORE ABOUT RUNNERS UP than Winner
illustrative example
Arthurs Tale kinda reminds me of a Creative Minister ( or a Skippylongstocking, Golden Glider if you had 3 coffees... a pace presence saving ground stalkign the rail.... ) near the pace conservative 1-paced grinder
El Daafer can be Mo, Nest, (or a Rich Strike, Rosario/Barber capable of a closing middle-move use your imagination ) .
same idea 4th/3rd Photo guy belated rally (mo, rich, barber...)
example "Nest coming up outside, but We The People still has something left! Creative Minister along the rail, but the rest are far back! WTP much the best! Nest in 2nd, PHOTO FOR THIRD Creative Minister or Mo Donegal for third" etc... choose your own adventure
