The Prime Minister of Ireland sent a delegate to the funeral - and they are trying to improve relations with the UK. Thatcher is old news.
Her politics were liked by conservatives, and loathed by those who differ.

Yes, we know she's loathed by liberals. But she was one of the most important figures of the 20th century, and I stlll say Obama is an ass for not attending her funeral. But, that doesn't surprise me.

Allow me to play devil's advocate (which I often love to do).

If Obama went overseas to the Thatcher funeral, then his critics would have jumped all over him for leaving the country during a time of national crisis (the Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent manhunt for the terrorists).

Anyway, I take it Obama decided not to attend BEFORE the bombings, but nevertheless. in the end, he's damned if he doesn't go (by his critics), and he would have been damned if he did go (by his critics...lol).

Well, I still disagree. I don't think there's one Conservative in the country that would have faulted for going. It would have given him a chance to use Air force One for something other than his own pleasure.

Think of all the money the U.S. taxpayers are going to save by Obama not attending the funeral -- probably a million dollars, is my guess.

He could still use of Air Force One and have pleasure on it on the way to the funeral of someone he had never met.

Is it OK to mention the Mile High Club and Air Force One in the same sentence?

Love the disclaimer:

Obama will be in Texas anyway for a Democratic fundraiser and the opening of President George W. Bush's library.
