GP Turf races off all summer?
I haven't played Gulfstream since the Championship meet. I handicapped Friday's card and saw no turf races.
Are they resting the turf course for the summer? If so, I applaud the decision.
Their turf course should be in the best condition for winter when the northern tracks can't use their own.

They tore up the turf course. . Mounts of dirt on it. I guess they will be installing a new turf course.

I thought this was the new turf course.
And why would GP and other tracks overuse their turf courses by running maiden claiming and other races for cheap horses?

It wasn't a new turf course. They just reseeded on over seeded the old one. It held up well from December to February, then started to die in March. Not sure why they run cheap horses on turf. It draws full fields. That would be my guess.

Why don't they go ahead and announce no dirt racing until December as well?

They are having trouble getting fields for dirt races especially the cheap claimers. I think every track is having that issue. Tapeta and grass races draw bigger fields

With Tampa Bay Downs never racing over the summer, what is the nearest venue to Gulfsteam that offers grass racing?
Colonial Downs I guess - and Laurel/Pimlico when their short meet ends.

Except, of course, the upcoming Friday and Saturday.
