MultiFile to Single File (BRIS)

Folks,

I've created an application that will convert BRIS multi-file data cards to the Single File format. (I mention TSN multi file cards, but I don't think there is such a thing). The program is free. It was tested by someone with a few _thousand_ race cards, but let me know if something doesn't work.

To get it, go here:

http://www.golganooza.com/equisim/index.html

and look for the "Multi2Single" link on the left hand side.

Handle,

I need some clarification please. If I have a program that uses the single file format, I could just download that. Why would I download the Multi File and then convert it?

I'm sure I'm missing something here. Is there an advantage to getting the Multifile as opposed to getting the single file?

If your program uses single file format, then download single file format.

But what if you had, say, 3500 BRIS multi-file format cards from the last 5 years or so? And you wanted to use these cards to build a database for a really cool program that supported that sort of thing. But that program only used SINGLE file format.

Well, there you go. It's for folks who have old multi-file format (or new ones), but want to use them in programs that use Single File format.

I suppose I could have made EquiSim read Multi-Format as well as Single File format, but a general purpose utility seemed to fit into a kindler, gentler world much better.

Why doesn't BRIS provide such a tool????? Same data.

FYI this doesn't do a complete job, many fields have been added since this program was given out.

It looks like there have been some additions but not many changes. Looks like I'll still have what I need.

Just thought I would let you know, I have used it to put files back together, and then worked with Rays Excel program and noticed that a few things missing.

I think you could do this in Excel these days quite easily with the added structure, but I never seem to find the time to do it.

this works with some programs that use the single file but not all of them, Bris should step up.
