The Posse Comitatus Act can be superseded by The Insurrection Act of 1807 under certain circumstances such as as armed rebellion, civil disorder etc. While many members of the military would be reluctant or refuse to fire on peaceful protesters, that would change quickly if those protesters started firing at the troops. And if there were to be an organized, armed rebellion, it would be met with overwhelming force. Your silly proud Boys and Oath Keepers would wet their pants.

Don't ever underestimate the resolve of many of the elite military that were discarded due to vaccine status or political ideology. Some people will just never know what hit them...all out civil war won't be necessary.
