J BALLS CALLS. An unconditional heart of gold. It's my pleasure to call him a friend.

One of 4 announcers that I will listen to the call of every race. Two others post here. Wish I had talent like that.

Shameless plug for Jason, if you've never read Southbound and you are a horse player, grab a copy. You won't be disappointed.

didn't know he had a book

https://www.amazon.com/Southbound-Ja...3988794&sr=8-1

"There’s a line that runs alongside our ordinary lives, just beyond the grind of things. Jason Beem’s novel Southbound derails your ordinary life and shoots you into the thrill, rush, and dark brutal truths of gambling and racing. And he doesn’t flinch. A glorious and visceral book. I sweat reading it.”–Lidia Yuknavitch, author of The Chronology of Water and Dora: A Headcase.

I met Jason at Turf Paradise in 2007, I believe. He's a good guy, I enjoyed talking with him. You're alright yourself Vic. I still can't believe we could both fit in the booth at GGF back in the day.

I have always thought highly of Jason. Where is he calling races these days?

Big Daddy! Fortunately the GGF booth is pretty large. Also one of the very best booths in all of racing. Stand alone on the roof. Hard to access for people just wandering around and want to bother the announcer. Very high. GREAT Booth. I was thinking about you Tony when Jason was describing how he got started. As I'm sure you remember I told you virtually every "real" race caller evolved the same way. I well remember the countless afternoons when you practiced rain or shine. I know Michael also contributed to that process.

Very happy that you've found your niche as the longtime voice of Finger Lakes. Following my good and great friend Ross Morton was no easy task and you've done it seamlessly and made Finger Lakes your own.
