UPDATED MODERN TOTE SYSTEM (if the biggest Gamblers in the world demanded it then it would be updated. IMO they don’t demand it because they are able to exploit the current and inefficient tote system to their advantage). This must change.

THE SAME TAKEOUT RATES FOR EVERYONE- If the Industry wants to grow the game then all Gamblers should compete on a level playing field. Giving one group an extreme advantage violates the spirit of Parimutuel wagering. This must stop. If certain Players are so important then buy them cars, houses, or Islands. And list takeout on betting slips. Make it a TRUE GAMBLING GAME OF SKILL

MORE SCRUTINY OF JOCKEYS AND THE RIDES THE GIVE. When any horse isn’t ridden to its best running style Stewards MUST interview the Jockey and the Trainer and publish the reason for the change in running style. Sometimes there’s a good reason for a change in tactics but sometimes there’s no good reason. The easiest way to alter the outcome of a race is to manipulate the pace of the race. They do this in other Countries and we definitely need it in this Country.

In a world rapidly losing its connection to the natural, where individuals and groups could react and preserve that which was worth preserving, horseracing would provide a way to buffer the technocratic. Such things would naturally grow in popularity. It’s why they have to be hobbled.

Those that run racetracks are just trying to extract as much blood from the stone as possible before the whole thing shuts down.

They have no strategy to attract the new player and existing customers are either dying off or quitting the game to find cheaper gambling games such as sports or poker. They have been turned off by CRWs, high takeout, cheating trainers, and suspect rides - among many other things. Which is a shame because if priced and marketed correctly, horse racing is the best gambling game at all.

I mean look at some people posting in the other thread. AH would favor raising takeout as high as possible to try to keep the business afloat for as long as possible.

My dystopian novel, “The Last Gamble” set in a world where everything is legal but joy, climaxes with a hundred horse, virtual, District of Kentucky Derby. The protagonist is trying to win the money for a one way flight into space. For months he sells his allotment of “anesthesics, building a bankroll but exposing himself to the greatest of suffering. Finally, the race comes. He’s able to confidently throw out the top 20 choices, all those 5-1 and under. Did I mention takeout is 75%? He lands on a key and few others to go with it. When the race goes off there is a software glitch, The Racing Association has failed to do an update for years. His horses gate has failed to spring on time and it’s left to trail the field. But with a furious late rally it gets up to second at the wire beaten only by the longest shot among those he used. But unfortunately there is an inquiry. His horse is declared a non-starter. No one way trip to the stars, just a refund, minus the 75% take of course.
