Oooooo, she won them both, and earns the respect and admiration of horse players everywhere for her remarkable training skills.
And on New York In-bred day to boot!

not necessarily a defense, but...
The owner of La Verdad is the Lady Sheila Stable, a group of (female) New York City socialites who don't need the money, may not even know where Lexington Ky is, and probably feel that if it happens west of the Hudson, then it doesn't really happen at all.
This way they get to watch their horse run & win, get their picture taken, and still have an easy segue to whatever it is that New York socialites do on a Saturday night.

I do agree with you. It's not like she won a "win and you're in race." Did she? OP is a little harsh.

I was with you thinking if you have a cup horse, take the shot and run
but on the ny racing channel just now
said it's her last race and La Verdad is going to be sold at the ny brood mare sales next week, so running in NY made more sense
if interested you need to bring the $$$$$
seems her mom was a good breeder

Heck,La Verdad might of gone off as the favorite in her BC race.
As a matter of fact, the three horse that just finished 2nd/3rd/4th to La Verdad in the Gallant Bloom are all running at Keenland in the F & M Sprint next Saturday.
Yeah,there's a reason she's never won a TC Prep Race/TC Race/BC Race before.
Look no further than trainer Michael Hushion,he's going to run Artemus Agrotera in the very same FM Sprint off of a one year layoff.......good for him.
I really hope trainer Rice comes to her senses and scratches both of her quality sprinters off of the NY bred Belmont card tomorrow.

A coward? Wow. That's very special. Sad.

I don't think her absence will hurt the "bettability" of either BrCup dirt sprint race.
Do you?

Well excuuuuuuse me!
I had no idea I was dealing with such a caring, sensitive, fragile board.
I mean,what was I thinking ????
Such language !
How,how dare I !!
I.....I.....I used the "C" word!!!
Oh the horror of it all!!!
Let me offer my deepest sincerest apologies here.
I am so sorry I made all of you grizzled, hardened, tough as nails horseplayers cry.
I think when I used the word coward, I actually posted the single most mean spirited thing in the history of the internet......WTF was I thinking ???
I will gladly offer to pay for therapy to anybody who's GDMF life I ruined by using the "C" word.(The C word is so bad I'm now afraid to even write it).
Does the word context mean anything to you people ?
Geez,it's not like I used the word coward in referencing Linda Rice knocking over small children and pushing aside senior citizens in wheelchairs to flee a room engulfed in flames.
I was using it as an adjective in a sentence to point out she(and her connections) took the easy way out in a.........."Scaredy-Cat" like move.....there,are ya'll happy now ?......or is Scaredy-Cat going to make all of the librarians, school teachers and church going non-sinners offended also ?
Somebody please remind me of something here......is this a horse racing message board ?
Do people make comments on horse racing here ?
I guess it isn't.
I guess it's a message board loaded full of the Politically Correct Police.
You know I get after EMD4ME & SRU something fierce on a regular basis and they handle it like men without all of the holier-than-thou outrage.......at least their skin isn't thinner than wet Kleenex.
Ya'll have a good time in Church tomorrow.

La Verdad
I still think the smart move was to avoid the BrCup (obviously) because I think she had no shot in either race....esp the way the Filly Sprint is shaping up this year.
Gals like Taris and even Super Majesty would lay all over her and go right on by, not to mention Cavorting.
Even though she's better than she was last year, this was a very tough task away from the friendly confines of NY.
And speaking of Super Majesty...I know she's light on experience and might be better suited for the 2016 renewal with more maturity...but, hmmm, she's kinda fast

Sort of defeating your point about "thin skins" when you whine about language and political correctness for 73 sentences. The point flew right over your pointy head anyway, as "coward" was a dumb word to use because it wasn't appropriate for the situation. The horse in question is being retired and they were giving her a win in an easier race on the way out. Nothing to do with cowardice. So see, you were stupid, not offensive.
Now back to getting your panties in a bunch and ranting about how offended you are about how we're offended.
