Almost 350 publications of all sizes, from the New York Times to local papers, are set to publish editorials Thursday on the subject of President Donald Trump’s frequent attacks on the press, according to a Wednesday Guardian report.
The movement was coordinated by the Boston Globe, and the editorials will vary from paper to paper, joined by the cohesive theme.
The Globe published its call to action in its opinion pages last week. “We propose to publish an editorial on August 16 on the dangers of the administration’s assault on the press and ask others to commit to publishing their own editorials on the same date,” it reads.
Though Trump has long had a belligerent attitude towards the press, he has stepped up his attacks recently, calling it the “enemy of the people” and tweeting about it frequently.
