Talking Vet Scratches

Real ones.
I've been spending time in the REd Board room and thorograph.com looking at yesterda's sheets to help improve my paterrn recognitin skills and I have seen a lot of orse that hve been recent vet scratches-some two or three times in a row.
This is good to know, but where canyou get this info? T-Graph puts it right in the graph so it stands out, and boy, do patterns go north-east after a VS. This would be good ino to have at the ready.

Tom,

The Bris instant entries carry the info at the bottom of the page.

http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/instant.cgi?type=int

You may find that this info is available only in certain jurisdictions (I'm not sure, just something I'd look for)

The DRF has it in the front part of each track's section. They also include the reason why the horse was scratched; whether it was a vet scratch or trainer scratch.

Vet scratches are very important to me. To me that is one of the best ways to elminate a horse from my top 4 picks for my tri's.
Kept records for about a year for Hol, Dmr, and Sax. The % of wins was very small, don't remember the number. In the money was around 80%. of course when one of these wins, it is usually for a big price. Also if one of these has had a race since the scratch, take a closer look at least for in the money.

That in the money figure is wrong . Should be 20% in the money.

20%

I bet show a lot. Are you saying any horse who has a vet scratch has 20% chance of showing next out? May depend on purse level and length between races and I probably eliminate them for some reason anyway, but I am Very interested in that 20% satatistic!!

Kenwood

That is correct. Remember this was for Hol, DMR & Sax. Most of the time I just leave them out of my tri.

Lightbulb Vet scratches

Tom,

Looking at the Bris instant entries scratch sheet there are quite a few reasons listed for scratches. At Belmont there are Vet scratches, Trainer scratches, Steward scratches, A, M, & G scratches. What are A, M, & G scratches? Also, what would the reason be for Steward scratch? Too many entries or a horse that does not meet the race requirements? Thanks,

Tom

Steward scratch is generally a paperwork thing -- entry form not filled out or filed correctly...

Tom,

The only one on that list with a reason of "M" is the 30Aug03 SAR 9th. My database shows it run on the inner turf. I was there that day and no races were taken off the turf.
