Finger Lakes chalkfest.

First 5 races today the winner paid UNDER 4 dollars.

Shouldnt FL be a bit more vigilant at carding competitive races on the day that NYRA is dark?

Any horse who has ANY kind of talent (and even those that don't, like Winmor Gold) in an Aqu/Bel race can ship to this place and pay 2.60. Its not like the purses are terrible either. I see Maggie Moss is running horses here, makes no sense why more arent shipping up here for the free cash.

What say you Tom?

NY maiden shippers tower over our horses. I don't know why more don't ship for the money.

FL has two basic kinds of winners - chalk and surprise!

Wow, you just can't please people here eh? couple of weeks ago it was that 'form' wasn't holding at keeneland and was unpredictable, now here you have the form holding up (at least IMO) and people still complain. Simple solution, if you think the heavy is legit, don't bet.

FL announced today that, starting next week, they will add a 10th race on Tuesdays, and only have eight races on Saturdays.

They care more about the simulcasting than the live crowd.
Can't blame them but then again, can't support them either.

What say you Tom?
This doesn't really hold up much. You'll lose your pants and shirt on AQU/Bel claimers. I'd avoid these. I'd pay attention to the allowance races with the AQU/Bel shippers. Nothing today.

My highest paying tri ever was at Finger Lakes. It was a repeat maiden winner. These will pay out big prices. Nothing today!

Finger Lakes is one of my favorite tracks. its true that in the beginning of the meet there are a lot of short priced horses there, but as the meet goes on you can get big prices. its the same every year. after 3 or 4 races the horses that had been off the whole winter are as fit as the ones that came into the Lakes with the fitness edge.

the same thing happens in most smaller b+c tracks. with any horse track you always have to get your game plan in place before you attempt to take the money out of those places. no body said this game is easy. if you think you are going to sit back and run a computer program and figure out pace numbers all day you will go clean as a clam.

Sorry for using this old thread to ask this, but didn't want to start a new one.. can someone tell me what the late (6-9) Pick 4 paid today at Finger Lakes? I checked the results at both Equibase and DRF, and for some reason there's no payoffs listed for the Pick 4.

Thanks!

They Race Them At Finger Lakes.

Here in SoCal we rarely have FL on the Otb menu, but we have it offered today and Friday. In looking at the Friday DRF see something that I really like, and that is very few layoff lines, Ie, they do not keep them in the barn, but race them at FL. This is unlike the major tracks which every day are filled with horses that have been away for one reason or another. As a 'capper that likes recency, find this FL trend a positive. Unsure if the Fri FL card is not typical in this respect, perhaps FL regulars can advise? Yes I know, several 4500 conditioned claimers, but have always done okay in these races, so who knows?
