Turfway Park
Turfway seems to cancel a lot. What good is a Tapeta synthetic track?

doesn't CDI own them now?
if they do own them,i'd expect they are trying to run track into the ground, like they have many others.

CDI owns them, but I doubt they're trying to murder the racing at this time. They're building a casino and new track facilities on site now. Supposed to open in the summer. They'll probably sharpen the guillotine if the casino flops or if KY approves stand alone casinos.
No clue on the reasons for the cancellations on the "all weather" track. I agree that tapeta seems to work great ------ as long as it's not too cold, not too rainy, not too icy, not too snowy, not too windy, moon isn't shining too bright...

could be jockeys and trainers causing the cancellations

The track freezes and then thaws and when thawing the tapeda forms in little rocks and its dangerous to horses and jockeys from the kick back

.....and they run late afternoon, which I don't get? It's winter, why do they have such a late post. Think they should use all of daylight, no?

They run at night because they need to have people bet on the races. They were totally lost in the shuffle running days on Sundays and moved to Thursday nights before the spate of winter weather.

Even if the track is safe, it may not be safe for people and horses to travel to the track. A significant number of horses ship in from the Louisville and Lexington areas. Employees need to travel as well.

Turfway is not notorious for cancelling or anything it’s just how bad the weather has been this winter. Oaklawn Park same situations this year. What I would like to talk about is the horrible CAMERA ANGLES Turfway has . I realize everything changed when the grandstand came down but for a mid to high level track they should be doing a better job and coming up with a solution. The stretch run angle is the absolute worst. With great big fields they should have a better viewing product.
