Nothing is 100% . It all depends on your file structure, big files, little files, etc. Some drives work faster writing, some reading, lots of random small files versus big continuous files. I try to read some reviews that test all the different scenarios since the drive controllers have different capabilities. Then I just buy the cheapest decent ones.
Black Magic has a test program I believe that tests your drive read/write speed.
Either way, the NVME drives are the way to go for the best speed. I upgraded my Macbook Pro drive to a newer bigger NVME drive and got a good increase in speed.
