Good luck. 3-8-7 for me. If we cannot get one horse in the top three, perhaps we should take up knitting!

I gotta say, I like the mute button. But it is not during the race but rather the stuff in between races.

I really like Craig's calls. Just the right level of excitement build-up as the race progresses. Great to have him calling at TP!

Craig, you’re doing a fine job. Keep doing what you love to do, keep chasing the dream and f**k what the naysayers think.

DAMN!
LOL
In all seriousness, congrats on landing the TuP gig...and don't worry. Some people thought Tom Durkin sucked too...
|
They sure did. I remember when Tom replaced Ross Morton at Gulfstream. Ross, RIP, was a good and great friend and a good caller. But C'mon Durkin was a quantum leap forward. I remember a letter to the editor on DRF where a guy completely ripped GP for firing a GREAT caller like Ross and hiring a hack like TD.
It was that very day I promised myself I wouldn't take praise or knocks too much to heart.
Opinions are what makes the world go round. And if that guy thought Ross was the goods and Tom a bum. Who the hell are we to say he's wrong?
As for Craig Braddock I personally thing he's doing an excellent job at Turf Paradise. It's very important that signals are branded. When I hear Craig I instantly know it's Phoenix.
Don't worry CB. As long as I'm still calling you can't possibly be at the head of the class for most people saying you suck. That's my personal domain.

Thank you, Vic. And if you do not mind, I will show your kind comment to my bosses here at Turf.
And thank you to everyone else. As I alluded too earlier, my life have changed very dramatically the last few years, but for the better, and everyones words of encouragement are very much appreciated.
Thank you.

I love Craig Braddick's accent...and I find his race-calls thoroughly enjoyable. We need more foreign-accented race-callers in this country...IMO.

Why exactly do we "need" more callers with an accent. While I think there are several that sound very good. Craig, Michael Wrona, Robert Geller. I think we "need" more American sounding announcers in America.

Speaking of American announcers, Vic did a nice job on national TV today on the Arkansas Derby call.

Please notice that I added, "IMO"...which is meant to indicate strictly a personal preference. But if you insist on a more detailed answer, I can further add that I can't, for the life of me, come up with a negative comment about any of the "foreign" announcers that I have had the pleasure to hear. Denman, Wrona, Geller, Berry, Braddick, etc...all of them are excellent in every conceivable way, IMO. Diction, accuracy, cadence, level of excitement...everything is right on the mark. The American announcers are hit-and-miss, as far as I am concerned. Some are very good...while the others overwhelm us with inaccuracies and hysterics.
Of course, this is only my personal opinion...and you are welcomed to disagree.

Do we really have to debate the preferred accent? It's 2021 and this is a worldwide game. How about someone good at the job?
Craig, best of luck in the future with your TuP gig and (more importantly) with your health.
