I guess it depends on interpretation - if only 1 in 20 still can get it after vaccination, is everyone vaccinated immune?

in the United States the government is paying $19 per vaccine and so far has not got that many shots in peoples arms.. Israel which has a total population of 9 million people has paid $68 per vaccine and has enough shots to vaccinate every citizen and Palestinian in that country and will be done vaccinating by March 1, 2021. https://www.politico.eu/article/isra...uccess-secret/
Massachusetts which has a smaller population has not been able to distribute the vaccines to its population. starting this Saturday there will be mass vaccinations taking place in Gillette Stadium. they plan on vaccinating 5000 people a day there in 2 weeks. they are also trying to work out a deal with Fenway Park to do the same thing there. there are plenty of other places that will be able to administer the vaccine like CVS, doctor's offices or urgent care facilities and health departments to administer 100,000 vaccines per day.. the only problem that might occur would be the supply of the vaccine.

Israel is way ahead of us and will provide us with a lot of insight on how effective these vaccines will be in knocking out the virus(and will provide insights as to their safety). I have to assume at this point a lot of people are wait and see, while many others obviously can't wait to get it. Personally I am in the wait and see camp (if I have that option).
It is pretty amazing that we were so anxious for a vaccine and we have managed 10 million initial doses in a month. That is a whopping 3% of our population(vs Israels 20% of their population). At that rate it will take us close to 3 years to vaccinate our population. Meanwhile 3000 + people die every day from covid supposedly. Obviously the vaccination rate will accelerate but not an impressive rollout by any stretch.

The states are outdoing themselves in incompetency. You'd think a plan would have been developed for implementation. Here in SC, the governor railed against 1a companies last week for not getting their employees in line. In late December, DHEC (health authority), said don't call us, we'll call you when it's your turn. A week later, they quietly changed the protocol the other way around but forgot to tell anyone how to do it. The knew for months that the vaccine was coming and the best they could do in that time was to have an excel file with the names of 15 hospital systems they you can email to say your company is ready. Something an intern could do. Here is how we do it in SC:
1. Call all day looking for the portal to use
2. Contact portal by email
3. Portal responds with roster file to be completed
4. Send back roster
5. Hospital system contacts individuals on list (only half were contacted)
6. You have to fill out a CDC profile. It's stupid as shit and I doubt half of our employees can successfully complete it before giving up.
7. You then are invited to select the day and time from the available openings. Problem is that for the first 9 days, all "available" slots were not available. I shit you not.
8. If you're unlucky like my wife, the system will "appt canceled at your request" at 2am leaving her without an appt.
Only about 50% of my employees signed up, and maybe 2/3rds of them will get vaccinated because the process is not friendly. Most of those not getting it are black and hispanic. Maybe 20% of both categories are getting it as opposed to 60-70% of whites.
