Thought this was interesting. NC has a proposed law to legalize horse racing. Anyone have insight as to the chances of this?

This bill has two sponsers, democrat and republican. The sports betting bill has about 10 sponsers and seems highly likely to pass. Unfortunately the way that is drafted horse racing is excluded, probably because of the horse racing proposal. My guess is if the horse racing dies on the table maybe they'll put adw back into the sports betting bill. They did just legalize both at the casinos.

This is all gut assumptions, so just curious if anyone has any actual insight.

Unfortunately our friends in Texas are still in the dark. This sport needs ADW in states like Texas to survive. Hopefully those with the power in this industry understand that.

I worked at the Texas tracks for the first 7 years of their existence, butted heads with higher ups constantly especially at Sam Houston. They opened a racetrack believing it was a family fun park, they did not like it when I continued to remind them it was a gambling establishment and not Astroworld.

The game needs to get control over what the ADWs take out of the purse accounts and tax dollars. Until it does, the math doesn’t work out vs legalized sports betting and casino gaming
