If she's on a horse with speed she certainly seems intent on getting towards to the front, which is nice to see consistently from a jockey nowadays. Not afraid to try & break the race open around the turn either, also a neglected move for the most part it seems.

Pyfer to explore racing analyst options as she continues to ride

Jessica Pyfer, the champion apprentice jockey of 2021 who has struggled to gain mounts this year, plans to start working as an in-house television commentator at Santa Anita this fall while continuing to ride.

Pyfer said she will work behind the scenes at Santa Anita at the start of the track’s fall meeting on Sept. 30, observing production teams and how other commentators prepare before taking an on-camera role.

Indeed

Baffling why trainers wouldn't have given her more mounts

Would seem to me that the concentration of horses with too few or aging trainers is a big problem in California

Wonder if anyone has investigated actually recruiting trainers globally to California racing much as they do in HK - not just incentives to run horses at Del Mar - this needs a bigger effort

Then jocks like Jess would get a fairer shot and the wagering quality would improve

While I'm at it, more turf racing not less, especially down the hill would help also

Jess's situation is a symptom of this larger problem
