Hi All.
Don't know if this is where I should post this.
Have been on here a few years now, but have only now just started to look and see what the horse racing in the USA was all about. And have been quite amazed at the amount of information there is, which is a nice supprise compared to what we have in the UK, though we have started to do sectionals now but only at a few tracks.Any way what I wanted to know, was how do I get into the Handifast user's group, I have downloaded the software but want to get to grips with it, so any help much appreciated.
Thanks.
Michael.

Hi Mike and Welcome.....

In the software there is documentation....Look in the folder where it is installed
That should be your start.
To use it you need to subscribe to get data ....
try..... brisnet.com....... under data files....

A big help would be if you had dealt with horse racing software in the past.

Good luck

Mike

Thanks for the welcome Mike.
The software is easy to understand but, the build race analyst doesn't seem to show up when I enter some info for the points. folder selector comes up but nothing in it at all I have the handi version 10.5 as the latest update.
The files I get via our now deceased friend Raybo's forum of friends which load okay so no problem there. I have the black box version that he made, but don't use it as much as I would like due to family and work, but i'm sure we are all in that boat.
I just was hoping to get to chat about how you sort it all regards what do you put more faith in whether the speed side of it the late call or a happy medium of all of them. Like I said am newish to the racing scene in USA so some assistance in some sort or another would be helpful.
I thought the forum for the handispeeds user group would be the kind of place that might of been able to start me in the right direction with some chats.

Regards.
Michael.

Michael, if you check the results (.xrd files, which are 25 cents /day/track) and look at what factors were winning, like T/J% or last speed or class or whatever, you can track how each track does. You'll find that some tracks have a higher % of late factors or early pace factors or class factors (always a good one) and can assign more weights to those factors. Keep tweaking and you'll have a great little program that not only helps pick winners, but exactas and tris and supers (we call that vertical exotics in the USA). I haven't used this great app in a while, but I believe the other program used to track the winning factors is in these threads called Handisearch batch processor. MikeSal57 will correct me if I'm wrong and may even provide more info after you read up on these apps. There should be a PDF file in each to explain how they work. Excel will come in very handy too. Good luck.

Hello everyone, I am doing a project around the program Handifast 10.

The project is about doing it inside the Excel spreadsheet.
Where I am stuck is exactly giving the proper scoring to match the Handifast 10 program exactly the same. I love the program but I also love Excel and its environment. Obviously I was able to get CSV output then close to correctly scoring horses, but not exactly as in Handifast 10. Once I get the scoring done I intend on making PDF's to send to my Samsung tablet, I love the Bluetooth in the Samsung tablets. If you see someone in the Sportsbook at Mohegan Sun with both the laptop & tablet near the Sam machines you will know who it is.

I am just looking to get the scoring aspect right, I got everything else easily covered and would appreciate some help.

Hi Fast ...

Would love to join in with your project....

I have massaged this in all different ways and seeing someone else try is
refreshing..
I can help, hopefully, and if I see this turning into something of interest...
we'll take it else ware .

Scoring is done only by using "ranks".....
and only with top 4 horses .

Ex:
Lets take CL....

get top 4 horses using the value figs in your chart

That will get you Ranks 1-4
transpose into this:

Rank #1 gets 100 points
Rank #2 gets 62 pts
Rank #3 gets 38 pts
Rank #4 gets 24 pts

every other horse for the CL will get ZERO
Those Value figs are only used to determine ranks

Each factor is used like this then added up horizontally for a final fig

Mike

Cool, I took a screenshot of your procedure. You have to have the data file for the Kentucky Derby right? Can you show me by example a small field like race 6 that only had 7 horses? Any user defined module like one that only uses 4 or 5 columns to get a total points for two horses and I will do the other 5 per your example.

In using Handifast 10 I found in cases where there were scratches or one scratch the third horse got bumped up to first or the other way around. But that was just from memory. If this gets interesting we can do the email thing and robust screen shots here if your interested.

Only columns with "POINTS ASSIGNED" are calculated and horse ranks of 1-2-3-4 are used

I'll manually calculate horse #7

3 x 1.00 = 3

-10 x 1.00 = -10

20 x .38 = 7.6

41 x 1.00 = 41

48 x 1.00 = 48

-2 x .62 = -1.24

-1 x 1.00 = -1

-------------------

87 Total points

Your example is crystal clear, I was going about it differently so I will program a workbook tonight and run several races with it. My rank numbers on version 10 does not function as yours does, but the spreadsheet does do that fine. I will post tomorrow when I get home.

I actually got something done between 9 an 10 PM today. Previously I was loading a bris file 6 times for the same race for different output. I will be able to paste a CSV once into a data tab and then click on a splash tab to have 6 outputs on one screen to send to a tablet leaving my main screen to return to another program. What I have found over the years is only 2 races per card are worth a serious bet and with super focus you can zero into them. But Handifast is what I like to use for the dime superfecta bet. I now have the confidence to build out a program from a Excel worksheet without risking the time linking several tabs and correctly having user defined modules for each controlling the output of each to a different rectangle on one sheet I will call the splash screen. Granted several races per card are not worth betting the superfecta.
