Stride data

Does anyone on here use stride data when analysing a race? Something I'm looking at over here in the UK and just wondering how it's used in the US.

As far as I know this data is not available in the U.S., though the few tracks that are using the TPD technology have the capacity to measure it and may at some point make it available in the PPs.
Somewhat similar to the availability of sectional data in the U.K. though I don't belive that stride data has even begun to be used in the U.S.

In the U.K., Simon Rowlands has a blog on the At The Races website where he uses both sectional and stride length data in his analysis.

How is it used in the U.K. and do you find it valuable?

Rowlands often points out the differences in stride length and frequency of horses in his blog. Since sprinters and routers, as well as grass, synthetic and dirt runners have distinctive stride lengths and frequencies this data should be useful in predicting how a horse will handle a new distance and surface.

DRF Breeze Figs daily reports incorporate stride length.

It's not really used over here, much like sectionals, very much in it's infancy. It was reading Simon's stuff that got me interested. ATR are now producing stride data for certain tracks, an interesting article on it here https://www.attheraces.com/news/2018...attheraces.com

Also Simons latest blog gives an analysis of some recent jump race action with sectionals and stride data
https://www.attheraces.com/blogs/sectional-spotlight

As usual Simon well ahead of the field with his analysis. It's a fascinating topic and I just wondered how it is used elsewhere.
