And no shit you don’t ban anyone, we’re all putting food on the table with ad views, as you’ve put forth so delicately on previous occasions.

I believe this laser focus on partisan politics will run its course, but what do I know?
I'm not quite sure what either of you are talking about.

It’s like adults that believe in Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny . And they are obsessed ! Following that crap is how assholes from BOTH sides get away with what they do. And one of the reasons I follow Horse racing and sports is to distance myself from that stuff . But the one thing I like is that chowder heads like that bet , they are not exactly open minded , thinkers . They are followers , so taking their money in pools isn’t very difficult. At least there’s that ! Lol
Don't look at off topic then.

Nobody forces you to read it.

There are even ways to see lists of new posts with zero from off-topic...the following link that accomplishes this can be accessed under QUICK LINKS:

Most of the guys in off topic on this board are pretty sharp players. Too bad the game has gone to shit.

You keep telling yourself who you are taking money from.........

I believe USFGeology thinks you are raking in big bucks with this site and would never ban anyone because we are all making you so rich. I think Bustin Stones concurs to some degree and thinks you are too laser focused on the off topic (political end) at the expense of the racing side. I don't think either of them realize that you just do this for shits and giggles.

Regarding off topic. Went to this sight (sans posting or even being signed up) for years and never even looked at off topic. Not sure why anyone that is interested in discussing racing and prefers not to talk politics would even go there. It is a different forum and not for everybody. One has nothing to do with the other. Personally I enjoy off topic (now, politics didn't interest me one bit 20 years ago) even when I am not participating.

To be totally honest. I'd be lucky to be able to take a really good vacation on the money I make from this site every year.

Emphasis on lucky.

Could I make more from this site if I put in the effort? Probably...but it will never be "quit your day job" kind of money no matter how much effort I put into it.

I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part! We're just the guys to do it.

https://www.drf.com/news/winter-meet...dates-year-ago

Quote:
All-sources handle for Aqueduct’s recently concluded winter meet was $268,592,551, down 4.4 percent from the $280,829,357 handled over the comparable period a year ago, according to figures provided by the New York Racing Association.
Quote:
There were 370 races run over 42 race programs from Jan. 1 through March 26, 2023 compared to 353 races run over 40 races cards from Jan. 1 through March 27, 2022. Average daily handle in 2023 was $6,395,061, down 8.9 percent from the average daily handle of $7,020,734 in 2022.

Ontrack handle at the 2023 meet was $26,592,551, down 6.7 percent from the ontrack figure of $27,020,734 wagered in 2022.
Field size was down a little, but I don't think that was the only driver.

Probably has nothing at all to do with higher heating oil prices, higher gasoline prices, higher prices for groceries, large layoffs in technology, higher interest costs on mortgages and loans, no stimulus checks from government etc.. I thought the economy means nothing.

I think it's likely to get worse nationally before it gets better. The Fed is still tightening and banks are under pressure from the recent deposit runs. That will likely tighten money further in the months to come and slow the economy more.

I could be wrong but ADW business increased dramatically during the pandemic because people could bet from home. The aggravation level for people betting on horse racing is off the charts and eventually people tell themselves they don't need the aggravation. I think this year handle will be down anywhere from 5-10% overall.
