Hi Barb,

You overbet, and the $1 winner ticket was a casualty.

The ticket is shown below, and gives me an opportunity to illustrate for everyone the process by which tickets are systematically modified to bring them into compliance with the total wager cost requirement.

$1 - 1,3,5,6//1,2,4,8//4,6,7//2,8 = $96
$10 - 6/4//4,6,7//6,8 = $60
$1 - 1,3,6//1,4//4,6,7//2,9 = $36
$1 - 6//4//1,4,6,7//2,6,8 = $12
$1 - 5//4//6,7//6,8,9 = $6
= $200

This selection total is actually $210 and not $200, so we need to eliminate $10.
First we reduce the base bet of the last ticket (which is in blue) by $1. This eliminates the entire ticket, but the total selection cost only drops from $210 to $204.
Second we reduce the base wager of the next to last wager (which is in red) by $1. This eliminates the entire ticket, and with the total selection cost now at $192, it is in compliance and needs no further reductions.

Last but NEVER least - thank you to Chris - 'Track Collector' for going beyond the call of duty in not only a persistently timely score keeping job, but ALSO explaining to us from time to time, why our selections were sometimes disqualified due to inattention or over-eagerness. Chris, you as much as the sponsors are what makes this annual Contest possible for us all - thank you!

And - subject to confirmation - looks like I might have taken a small share of the Prizes. As I have mentioned, I'll be contributing any cash prizes I've won back to future Contest prize funds.

I must say - my eyes have really been opened to Pick 4's (and Pick 3's by extension), at least at NYRA. I may very well keep on going during the next Aqueduct meet and Belmont beyond!

Although you had the winning numbers, your wager selection cost $400, which is over the $200 allowable limit.

I didn't bother to check cost of Ticket. Makes the job even harder for Management. You guys do a great job with making sure the Contest are run well and fair. Kudos to everyone involved.
