Derby Wars
I noticed they have NO tournaments listed for tomorrow. Are they going out of business? Stronach suit really hurt them.

It's very strange the difference between the two sites lately. I've always played more at Horsetourneys anyway, but with all of the nonsense going on, not even a statement from Derbywars as track by track suddenly disappears. At least Horsetourneys has kept us in the loop.
I withdrew all the money in my account at Derbywars last week just in case.

I sent DW a message via chat a few minutes ago asking about tomorrow's tournaments. Took a few minutes to get a response, but here it is, for what it's worth:
Reply from Christopher
Hey ____,
Nothing set yet. We are working on finalizing agreements and we be adding more tracks this week.

I resisted the urge to reply that I be waiting.
I used to play DW exclusively but tried Horsetourneys several months ago and like it much better. HT is just about all I play now.

Update: DerbyWars has posted a one-sentence notice on its homepage saying "DerbyWars games to resume on Wednesday!"
What are the chances that if the games do indeed return, that there will be new game formats whereby the entry fees will reflect a higher takeout to cover any "agreements" DW has negotiated with tracks?

I just checked their website. There were a few Belmont games posted, but they were points games, not real money.

I like Derby Wars format better than Horsetourneys. Many HT contests are 5 players only. Derbywars has 17-25 players which I find more interesting w/bigger purses

I just saw on Derby Wars they have 2 Belmont games tomorrow that require points to enter, but pay out cash! Interesting. Perhaps they are going to let their clients use their points for cash games as a loss leader to keep them as clients until its all resolved?

Derby Wars has made no attempt whatsoever to explain its situation and future intentions to its customers; instead, the site just went dark, so to speak, after Sunday. Communication would be easy enough...either on the site's blog or by email. Absent any explanation, I suspect that at this point its customers -- many of whom may not be familiar with the legal problems -- are more concerned with the solvency of their cash accounts than their points balances. I hope DW can put the legal issues behind them and move forward. Although most of my play now is at HorseTourneys, it's good to have alternatives.

I got an email yesterday:
Quote:
Hi Craig,
I wanted to update you on the games on DerbyWars.
We are currently in the final stages of resolving of our lawsuit with the Stronach Group. Going forward, we are only going to be working with tracks where we have an agreement with. We are currently in the process of reaching out to tracks and establishing those agreements. We expect to be adding Belmont and other tracks later this week.
DerbyWars has had several track agreements in the past, and we look forward to working with even more tracks in the future. Race tracks are seeing the value that contests bring to players, and in turn partnering with tracks will only help to introduce more players to contests.
We will keep you posted on more updates as they become available.
Thanks everyone for all your support!
Mark

If that's the case CJ, feel free to delete my earlier post. That is good news. But I feel slighted, not having received a copy of that! I know DW has my email address, because I'm always receiving notifications of upcoming contests. (And notifications that I didn't win my latest tournament, lol.)
