An all electric home in an average USA climate will consume 3 times one that has natural gas, of course you won't hear that come from anyone against that dirty natural gas.

Of renewables solar produces 2.8% of consumed electricity and wind 9.2%.
The problem with those two types of electricity is they produce little power compared to the space they take up.

Recent advances in heat pump technology allow heat pumps to heat homes even down to -10F. For most parts of the country you wouldn't need resistance heaters to back up the heat pumps in all electric homes.

The electricity required to charge an electric car is more than used by the average family A/C unit. In older homes with deteriorated electrical systems, they would no doubt be unsafe.
I saw where a Pearl Jam concert was cancelled due to the lead singer's throat ailment. Yahoo is one of several leftist sources that blame climate change. This is how far this bullshit has gone in snowballing simple minded people.

Are you saying that the bluebirds are conspiring against the red roosters?

My heat pump is 12 years old, so it isn't the latest and greatest, but trust me it isn't that much more economical than if I used a bunch of electric space heaters. It pulls 10,000 watts when running for heat and isn't that big of a unit. It uses half that to cool. If you have a link to the new heat pumps please post it, I will read all the fine print. Most "green" items are not as green as they lead people to believe. With heat pumps they usually list performance under optimal conditions and set-ups which never, or rarely occur.

I wonder what the culprit is? The battery itself, the charging station, or both?

The chemical process in a battery slows in the cold, electricity flows fine in the cold but the components to transfer it might not, especially solid state items. Kind of a catch 22, as anything unregulated to keep electronics warm in the cold could make them too hot to function or lower life when ambient temperatures hit the high end in the summer.
