Which announcers 'overcall' a cheap race?
Rank your top 5 announcers in order of which guys get too excited for bad races. I can understand going nuts for a stakes race, but some of these announcers out there go ape-stuff for a cheap race. Who are the biggest culprits of 'overcalling'.
Thanks.

Consider though that one of these "bad races" could be of critical importance to the connections or someone who has bet serious money on it.

the guy at Fort Erie, though he used to be more moderate in his calls. Went totally over the top this year and I had to turn off the sound more than once.

Personally, I don't feel that the value of the race is really the issue. I've enjoyed a bunch of cheap races much more than some stakes races. I feel the guy who calls the races at Churchill Downs (don't know his name) should take it easy every now and then. He screams for nothing in every single race, once the horses turn for home.

I'd rather a race be overcalled than undercalled. Over the years I've seen some tracks employ some really boring drones. Fortunately they're gone.

I agree . I want excitement with a call not the slow boring calls that scream out, "why are you people even playing these races".

Think its Mark ( the toad)Johnston and I mute him, even on the prelim show with Jill Byrne. She knows her stuff andI like to listen to hertake but then when she throws it to him I turn it off, in fact I stopped playing Churchill last meet due to him.Worst move Churchill has done, the guy is a turn off. I miss Luke.

Ditto CD - that "screamer" is a complete turn off.
He has a voice made to newspapers.
Frankly, Durkin is my pick for over the top. I like a few of his witty call, but day in day our, I prefer "Johnny I"hands down. And Marshall Cassidy.

Dave Johnson - hands down. "And down the stretch they come..." when the lead horse is ahead by 15 lengths.

TOM DURKIN hands down. Most of his calls at the wire are over the top and false excitement. He used to be pretty good but in old age is getting to hard to listen to, every race does not have to be like a Kentucy Derby or Breeders Cup!!

The guy at Fort Erie - hands down.
AND 5K2NL is making a HUGE MOVE ON THE TURN. HE'S FLYING ON THE OUTSIDE! AND EVEN THOUGH I CALL RACES HERE EVERY WEEK, I STILL HAVEN'T REALIZED THAT 5K CLAIMERS CAN'T CLOSE - SO I'LL SCREAM HIS NAME IN THE STRETCH AND HE'LL FINISH fourth.

the main thing I like watching replays is a guy who calls the bunch-up or hidden-horse well
