Preakness tv rating was up 12% and handle was up 2.9% in addition to it being a record...

Just goes to show, just because something isn’t interesting to you, it doesn’t mean it’s uninteresting to the masses...

This was the worse for TV.

(At least I had the strategy right for Brown and GM to try to win it. No shame in that.)

Nice call by Andy Serling BTW. Though he may have screwed up.
Andy got it right. Listened to his youtube over again.

He keyed the 5 and 7 over 5 6 7 8 over 5 6 7 8 as a backup to his main play.

Kudos to Andy.
....

Guess I was totally wrong about TV and handle.

I thought the day sucked with the weather and all the scratches.

Not the first time.

Here’s the thing about handle... with chalks it’s better...

If 100,000 people win $10 or 10 People win $100,000, what do you think the track prefers? The 100,000 people because they get their $10 back from most of them when if any of us win $100,000 we’ll spend part of the money on other things and it will take most of us a lot more time to bet the rest back...

This has to be quite bullish. On paper, it was a terrible betting race and the conditions made the card largely unplayable. Toss in the fog and there was every reason for handle and ratings to be down. The gains are hard to explain.
