FAUX NEWS
hcap, I know you love polls.....latest ratings show FOX News up 35% overall, 54% among younger viewers.
In prime time, they have more viewers that CNN and PMSNBC combined.
The top 10 shows on cable are on FOX.
Top three?
O'Reilly
Hannity
Beck
America is watching FOX........and listening to RUSH!

Geesh, Tom, you are sooooooo mean-spirited. You really know how to get a guy's day off to a lousy start. 'Cap will be spending all day spinning his wheels in an attempt to find a poll that counters the above ratings.

Fox has been number 1 for many years has it not?? this isn't shocking news to anyone.
they are far and away the best of the cable news channels in terms of content, hosts, graphics, etc.
Hannity is the only guy i can't stand on the network, but I really like O'reilly, sheppard, and Cavuto has even grown on me

And Two and a Half Men gets higher ratings than Battlestar Galactica or the Sopranos. It just proves that ratings don't equal quality.

It is truly ashamed at the wholesale lowering of true intellectual curiosity and the requirement of logical aspects of the truth that allows soemmthing this vile to prosper.
A great specimen of a BAD EXAMPLE.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...021502901.html
quote: "The mind of this country, taught to aim at low objects, eats upon itself." Ralph Waldo Emerson offered that observation in 1837, but his words echo with painful prescience in today's very different United States. Americans are in serious intellectual trouble -- in danger of losing our hard-won cultural capital to a virulent mixture of anti-intellectualism, anti-rationalism and low expectations.

46, you shouldn't talk about Wolf Blitzer like that.

Incredibly amusing that 46 would construct the above sentance to try and hint that Fox viewers are stupid.
Time to look in the mirror or learn to write oh Mr. supereducated 6'3" former doctor and all around know it all. Why is it that almost everytime you try to insult other people's intelligence you murder the language in a way that would make GWB proud? Spout out all you want, but the fact is you are no Eintsten.

From the same Washnigton Post article quoted above:'Columbia University historian Richard Hofstadter, "Anti-Intellectualism in American Life," was published in early 1963, between the anti-communist crusades of the McCarthy era and the social convulsions of the late 1960s. Hofstadter saw American anti-intellectualism as a basically cyclical phenomenon that often manifested itself as the dark side of the country's democratic impulses in religion and education. But today's brand of anti-intellectualism is less a cycle than a flood. If Hofstadter (who died of leukemia in 1970 at age 54) had lived long enough to write a modern-day sequel, he would have found that our era of 24/7 infotainment has outstripped his most apocalyptic predictions about the future of American culture.
Dumbness, to paraphrase the late senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, has been steadily defined downward for several decades, by a combination of heretofore irresistible forces. These include the triumph of video culture over print culture (and by video, I mean every form of digital media, as well as older electronic ones); a disjunction between Americans' rising level of formal education and their shaky grasp of basic geography, science and history; and the fusion of anti-rationalism with anti-intellectualism.
or later :That leads us to the third and final factor behind the new American dumbness: not lack of knowledge per se but arrogance about that lack of knowledge. The problem is not just the things we do not know (consider the one in five American adults who, according to the National Science Foundation, thinks the sun revolves around the Earth); it's the alarming number of Americans who have smugly concluded that they do not need to know such things in the first place. Call this anti-rationalism -- a syndrome that is particularly dangerous to our public institutions and discourse. Not knowing a foreign language or the location of an important country is a manifestation of ignorance; denying that such knowledge matters is pure anti-rationalism. The toxic brew of anti-rationalism and ignorance hurts discussions of U.S. public policy on topics from health care to taxation."
Alive and well everyday RIGHT HERE

Watching Fox and listening to Limbaugh.....the same Limbaugh with less than a year of college, the guy kicked off ESPN for racist comments, the junkie low enough to have his housekeeper buy his pills, the guy caught coming back from a visit to the D.R. (known for underage sex trade) with Viagra. The same Limbaugh that is paid millions by corporations every year and tells us corporations are good. That's gotta say a lot .
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

funny isn't it that the three shows being listed here as top rated on the "NEWS" channel are NOT news shows as admitted time and again by the "news junkies" that post here in praise of FOX.

Very telling, in a dopey kinda way.
Realty is so not in these days!
Seems they can't keep news reporting and opinion spouting apart or perhaps that's the whole point of the MSM anymore.

You get it, dog.
The libs all jump up and down every time a poll shows that Bush is bad, yet, overwhelming numbers on TV and radio are flocking to the 4 most hated by the libs!
And, as you point out, and I have harped on, NONE OF THEM ARE NEWS. So, all these people are turning to lib bashing for their entertainment!
