But, if you are, how would you feel about a guy with an accent like, say, Boston, or Jersey, calling races at Royal Ascot?

Playing ping pong with these callers lives IMO isn't quite right. They have families I would think.
Make a decision.

My ancestors stole a loaf of doughy damper and were unceremoniously exiled to Van Demon's Land, and there was I born.

Michael Wrona and Frank are both very good race callers. I prefer Wrona because of how detailed he is about every call as well as his accent and voice. Additionally, as a previous poster stated I like how he calls each horse at the line. FWIW while GG has short fields in most races Wrona is quite capable of calling bigger fields and mentioning each horse. I've heard 10 horse maiden races or stake races where he called each horse front to back at the finish.
I very much enjoy Frank's calls and in particular I enjoyed his calls of AP at Oaklawn last season during the derby preps. You can't go wrong with either caller, but to me I'll go with Wrona.

I don't get people that prefer Frank over Wrona. It must be the accent, because Frank is inaccurate with a lot of calls. The horse sitting the 2 or 3 hole is always getting the perfect trip, and that horse doesn't win that often. He also said a ride by Efrain Hernandez was 'perfect' while subsequently being taken off the board. Wrona is MUCH better about how horses are traveling than Frank. And Frank shouts way too much for me.

My vote's for Mirahmadi. Solid, efficient and easy on the ears. I'm sure Wrona is a great guy, but I don't consider him in the top echelon of announcers. His racing expressions sound like someone who's calling at a rural track across the pond. Stuff like, "They had an even dispatch." What announcer in America says that? And he kind of sounds like Ted Cruz at the mic--all nasal. Tell you what, though, Santa Anita is missing a huge opportunity in not considering Vic Stauffer. Or, who knows, he might be in the running.

I like both of them, I will feel bad for the guy who doesn't get the job. I guess the loser will get the regular gig at Golden Gate ?

My vote goes for Frank M in a landslide. I think his calls have been excellent.
his voice is great and he gets excited for the important stuff, while also giving some flair to the average race.
he has called many tight photo finishes correctly, and almost always picks up the horse from behind who is going to be a factor.
Wrona's voice is annoying and his calls are average at best.

Dunno, you would think that Mirahmadi or Wrona would be a stone cold lock considering their popularity, I am sure there would be a lot of pissed off Californians if they gave that job to a total stranger. No ?
