Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/mlk-day-2...140252858.html
Monday 15th January, 2024, is a national federal holiday.
After a struggle in Washington to make it a day of remembrance,
by 2000 the vast majority from both sides of the aisle agreed.
Nowadays, many conservatives chime in about what a great man MLK was.
Amazing how time eventually brings about change. People are often less critical
towards those who have departed this earth. Strange quirk of human nature.
When the great leader was still alive, conservatives had a lesser opinion of him.
The likes of J. Edgar Hoover, and Jessie Helms, spent much time and energy
trying to discredit MLK. They had no shortage of supporters in their pursuits.
That's a historical fact - like it, or not.
Care to wonder what MLK would think about our current state of affairs?
Think he would support Trump over Biden? I'm sure what the answer is.
Let the side stepping and deflecting begin........

I certainly don't think MLK would approve of today's Democrat party...which places race (among other attributes) at the forefront of what defines a person.
Maybe you need to go back and educate yourself on the teachings of MLK before you start preaching to "conservatives" about him and his legacy.

They would not approve of him either, he would not get any airtime. He wanted people to be colorblind and did not believe in violent protests.

If Martin Luther King, Jr. had had a chance to become president of this great country instead of the phony, race-baiter Barry Obama, we wouldn't have to be fighting to "make America great, again;" we would have been there and still holding on.
A simple example of what must be hurting him a lot, as he looks down from above, is how so many of his own race have become corrupt government officials...spewing hate and lies and seeking some sort of vengeance for nonexistent injuries. Shame on you people for tarnishing his dream!

It is unfortunate that H4C used this thread as a disquised political swipe at conservatists instead of honoring a man who did a lot of good for his people and our nation.
Hey horsey, those people using the fire houses, swinging the batons, releasing the hounds......DEMOCRATS, dude.
It is more unfortunate that the POS Omama undiid so much of the good MLK did.
If he were alive today, he would be wearing a MAGA hat.
MLK had a dream.
Obama turned into a nightmare.
MFLK climbed the mountain.
Obama descended inti Hell, and took the country with him.

This is a good time to reflect on where the democrat party has gone since the days of MLK and JFK.

Those men would be booed off the stage if they spoke at the DNC convention in 2024. I wonder what percentage of the Democrat party voters would
agree with the thoughts of those guys today? I know one, my 75 year old aunt. When she would come to my mom and step dad's to visit I would go over there, going back 40+ years both of us think the same today, you can actually have a political conversation with her in an adult manner.

Even better time to reflect on the utter descent of the Republican Party since Lincoln and T. Roosevelt and even Eisenhower. How embarrassed they must be.

Back then, people like you were saying the same thing about MLK that you are saying about Obama today. Furthermore, if Dr. King were alive today advocating what he advocated then, you would be his harshest critic.

Again you lie.
My first and only serious choice for potus was Tim Scott, who was preachin what MLK was.
No way MLK would support Biden.

My God, you people are completely divorced from reality. Martin Luther King advocated Justice for everybody. Where is the justice in limiting the ability to vote? Where is the justice in banning a woman’s right to an abortion? Where is the justice in banning books and banning discussion of uncomfortable? Where is the justice in banning Muslims from entering the country? Where is the justice in outlawing unions? Where is the justice in Christian Nationalism and White Supremacy?
Not only would Dr. King not be a NMAGA supporter, he would be absolutely and irrevocably opposed to everything they believe in.
