I've met both of them. Yeager I agree with. He was still the Top dog when we ran into him at Edwards Air Force base during a lunch break, almost ten years after he retired. He was wearing a flight suit and anytime you cross paths with a General and a gaggle of Colonels escorting him, it gets your attention. He stopped and spoke to our group for two minutes and shook our hands. You could tell he was the most respected of the group. But of course he is treated like a celebrity.

Glenn spoke at a function I attended back in the 80's. He was getting up in age, but he was very reserved in the meet and greet after. Both guys are true hero types. Glenn held many aviation records early on. He was a hell of a pilot too.

Yeager's exploits in WWII are fun to read about. The rest is well known. Total package when it comes to charisma etc. well documented too. Considering where he hailed from, amazing.
