Jim Dandy Shaping up to be a Dandy
Jim Dandy field looking pretty solid thus far with Tacitus, War of Will, Code of Honor, Tax, Owendale, and Global Campaign all looking very likely to run.

If War of Will is back to his early spring and Preakness form, he'll be damn tough to beat.

Saratoga at its best if this comes to fruition. I agree with the previous poster. War Of Will , at 9 furlongs, the way this track usually plays at this distance, will be a tough “catch” if he’s right.

I think the biggest factor will the track, not the horses.

another short 6 horse stakes race? I hope one does not scratch.
Very happy that Shug is training up Code of Honor for the Travers instead though. I'm a big CoH fan.

Not much speed in the race.

I'll never own a track, but the proper way of handling this would be to threaten the job of the man in charge of carding races, or to outright fire him.
What's worse than this sorry carding of the Jim Dandy, is that it was done to the standards that the team who runs the show!!! This is considered a 'full field' to them. The track and the horseman are fine with this field.
If they can't field a race, the 'Curlin' Stakes should be available to use as a pool of horses. Give a weight break if you must. No horse is getting laid bc of the Curlin S... It's such an obvious solution. Cancel the Curlin Friday and use those horses in the Jim Dandy, Saturday.
these ****s...
That being said, the world is not going to adapt to me. I'll enjoy the quality that happens to be packed into this short field. If I do have a Jim Dandy opinion, I will go with the flow and look to the Pick-5.
be positive
It's OK to see the problems, but you have to be strong and positive.

Tacitus is ... Tacitus. Looks to be himself. Good shot of winning here, but hopes for some pace to develop. Running a good race is more important than trying to switch-up styles to help the cause for this race.
War of Will had a really nice gallop-out the other day following a solid work. I was impressed. Wasn't really a War of Will fan for the Belmont, but he's a solid horse who seems to be in good form.
One perspective of the Peter Pan, had Global Campaign as much-the-best. He's a solid horse.
It wouldn't shock me if Laughing Fox has matured a bit. Barn is going really well. He showed signs of rounding into decent form, and now he's had 70 days off and posted 8 published workouts. I wouldn't be surprised at all to look at him and have him jump off the screen, physically.

Frustrating to see this race only drawing 6 entrants.
Thought for sure this would draw 8 or more this year

A couple of the Curlin horses could have taken a shot in the Jim Dandy, but they probably make more sense where there are.
To me, Tacitus is the best horse "to date", but without much speed in the race and Global Campaign potentially loose, it's not the perfect spot for him. The Peter Pan was a good Grade 3. GC could be very tough here if he gets loose and the track is OK for speed.
I'm not a big fan of War of Will. To me, his Derby trouble was overrated and his Preakness trip was "gift from God" perfect. He didn't have the best trip in the Belmont racing wide on a good inside day and getting bumped around a little, but Tacitus was also very wide and handled him easily. Maybe the 12F wasn't ideal for him, but still, on an overall basis, I think he's a bit overrated off that Derby trouble and Preakness win.
The best thing he (and Tax) have going for them is that they may find themselves sitting just off Global Campaign. So if that one comes up short, they'll get first run over Tacitus in what will probably be a slow paced race.
Early in his career Tacitus was showing a little more speed than he has in his last few starts. Even in the Wood he was not far off it positionally given that the top 2 opened up on the field and he was badly jostled early. Tomorrow might be a good day to use some of that speed to stay closer if they want to win and are not just thinking about the Travers.
