Equibase can't display dead heats
Equibase has new software that apparently is incapable of displaying dead heats. As near as I can tell this affects DRF and brisnet.com as well.
Today (April 22) in the 8th race at Keeneland there was a dead heat for third between #1 Can't Miss and # 2 Ribbon Cutter. But the chart indicates that Ribbon Cutter finished 4th. No show payoff is listed for Ribbon Cutter. The running line preview in Equibase shows Can't Miss's finish as 3rd, beaten 5 lengths, and Ribbon Cutter's finish as 4th, beaten 6 3/4 lengths.
I mentioned it to Brisnet, expecting that they would fix it, and this was the relevant portion of the response:
I spoke with our programmers and they informed me that our data providers have the information structured in a set way that does not allow to indicate two runners in the dead heat.
This respose is unacceptable IMHO. Any thoughts on who this should be escalated to?

DRF Formulator, DRF PDF, and DRFPRO charts look fine.

Looks like the charts data distributed by Equibase was corrected late last night.
The original had the correct parimutuel show payoffs for the two horses that dead heated for third - but had their finish positions as third and fourth.
The corrected chart that I downloaded from HDW a few minutes looks fine.

Right. They fixed it. The original chart didn't show a dead-heat, just referenced one in the payoffs and comments.

The BRIS chart still doesn't have both show payoffs in it.

BRIS may fix it?
Any idea how long it's been going on? I noticed another example at Kee on 4/16/15, race 8.

Just one of the several reasons I quit using Brisnet data, after being a loyal customer for years. When a company starts doing things half-assed it's time to take your business elsewhere.

Like its counterparts in the racing industry, BRIS is still living in the past, when racing was still a major player, casinos weren't widespread, and they could do whatever they pleased. I'm surprised they ever upgraded from 2400 baud dialup modems.

The game is run by idiots.
All phases of it.
How you have any respect for an industry that so incompetent that you cannot believe any of the data about it?
