i would be looking at ways to cut the cost of them to the users. right now online a single track from the racing form cost $3 per track. that is about $1.50 to much the way i look at it.

there has to be a way where the past performance company's can get together with equibase and race track operators to get the cost cut down to my number $1.50. the higher price is scaring people away from buying those things and the cost of ink and paper make it almost prohibitive.

in business often times less is more, look at Costco, they are constantly looking at ways to cut costs, they work on about a 15% markup and make piles of money operating that way. if you walk into those warehouses you will see people lined up at the cash register's waiting to hand over hundreds of dollars all day long

The DRF also does not give volume discounts, which is a big plus for many products.

I stopped using DRF because of price. Bris basic PPs cost $1 a card online. Bris uses the same data and charts as the DRF, all from Equibase. The difference is in pace and speed figures. Everyone computes their own. The one thing DRF has exclusively is Beyer figs.

The Bris Ultimate PPs, which have additional stats and features that I find useful, are $3 a card if purchased one at a time. If you sign up for one of their plans, you pay a minimum of $30 a month, which includes 20 cards, with additional cards at the same effective rate, $1.50 each. I believe that others, such as TrackMaster, have similar pricing plans.

Also, most of the BRIS PPs for the big races are online for free.

Yes, they do. Price plans are all listed on the website. Further, if you belong to their ADW and bet $20 or $25 total on any race(s) on the card, the card is free.

I haven't looked at DRF in years. They do have some discounts for very big users, but I don't see anything that would do me any good. It looks like I could get the price down to $2.49 a card, compared to $1.50 for Bris Ultimate, and the Bris is a much better product in my opinion.

And for those races that aren't among the free Bris ultimates, you can buy their Premium Plus ones for $1. They won't give you as much info i.e. breakdown the jockey ROI with certain moves & then the dam breeding stats, but it's better than nothing.

If I had the power to change the cost of providing data to the bettors I would do away with both Equibase and the DRF; and make the data available to the bettors online 24/7 for any racetrack for a nominal monthly maintenance fee which I estimate to be about $30/month.

Why get rid of Equibase and the DRF ?

The answer is simple; if you review the PP data provided to the bettors it is "time only" data which is inconsistent with what bettors are doing or want to do the data today; and that is calculate or estimate the horse's speed.

I realize that this might ruffle the feathers of some traditionalists, but the current/historical data model from Equibase and the DRF is built on the providing of "race time" not "horse time."

I opened the PDF on my android tablets (a Samsung Tab 3 and a Tab S) using the free Foxit PDF reader. It allows you to mark it up.

It’s not exactly like marking up the paper version, but then again since DRF switched to the book form marking up the paper form isn’t the same as it was anyway. But on the plus side, no messy news ink all over the place.

I will never be satisfied with any form of electronic PPs.
I would rather not play than have to rely on that crap.

I've already printed out the PPs from the PDF.
