America's Day At The Races

Just a random thought / post:

Always looking forward to Saratoga! I really enjoy watching America's Day At The Races. They do a really nice job of covering the Saratoga meet and I enjoy the show they put on. Sometimes I get The Form and watch without even making a bet. Nice job to the on-air personalities.

The show often will highlight a farm or breeding operation or group that cares for retired horses. Good to see. Our sport takes a beating, and yes, there are bad apples and bad processes, but the majority of those involved in horseracing are tremendous caregivers and lovers of their animals and its sport.

A month away from The Spa!

I agree. The Mig has become a very good broadcaster.
The problem with Americas day is they change channel in the middle of the card. Very annoying.
I started a post titled "Improving Saratoga" please add any suggestions you have.

Try watching on YouTube. They usually carry the entire card, I believe.

Is it that hard to change the channel? I'm old enough to remember when I was the remote control for my dad. It's actually really easy now.

With a roof top antenna connected to a black and white tube behemoth. Those were the days.

channel change is a little annoying, but, I'm happy that horse racing gets that much play on a major cable network. If the channel needs to hop around, so be it.

i watch the Saratoga show on NYRA Bets. i love the close up views of the horses in the paddock and on the track. its invaluable to me, i made money last year for the meet for the first time since CURRENCY SWAP. the video feed saved me a ton of money last year.

youtube has a lot of good racing information. Just watched Andy Serling being interviewed by Kali Francois about Andy's handicapping process. Great stuff.

Agreed - not sure the powers-that-be understand there are packages like my current Sling (and possibly others) which get FS1 but not FS2.

I'm in the "tune in on YouTube" camp re NYRA's coverage - that channel has worked consistently, for me at least, since the post-pandemic resumption of NYRA racing.

Agreed!
I wish there was more paddock reporting specific to "trainer interviews/questions". Like, what does the trainer say about their entry today? How has their horse been feeling? Training? Can we read between the lines of what they say?

The fragmenting of horse racing coverage is pain in the neck.

With my provider, sometimes NYRA switches from FS1 to FS2, but when I change the channel to FS2 something else is on at least for awhile. If that happens, I have to switch from my TV to my computer and go searching on Youtube. Then I cast it to my TV. That doesn't count the times the coverage switches to one of more major networks for a big race or when what I want to see is only on TVG/Fanduel (which I refuse to pay for). It became so comical I stopped watching racing on TV. I use the live feeds from the track via my ADW on my computer and that's it. If I can cast it to my TV, that's better. The way is has become so fragmented is terrible for fans.

It is not legal for me to have an ADW, so I watch races on RTN. Excellent picture quality through my ROKU and with the Thoroughbred package there's plenty of races to watch, with minimal interruptions. Replays, too.

fwiw NYRA has a free downloadable app for those streaming, it's called NYRA NOW. They have a replay feature but it isn't up to date for some reason.
