Isn't a coincidence that Breeders’ Cup’s former chief executive, Greg Avioli, is president of Stronach’s company who owns Santa Anita.
The track surface in SA will of course be fair just like the fairness displayed by the Breeders Cup organization which is so blatantly biased in favor of SA. Another decision that will add to the final nail being driven into the coffin known as Thoroughbred Racing.

Of course it isn't a coincidence as I'm sure you know.
I hope NYRA does everything in its power to make the big fall races competitors of the BC instead of preps, especially after slots.

The way things are going in S. Cal racing, you won't have to worry about SA getting the BC in a few years. Personally I don't care much were it is held although the chances of getting an off tracks in the East are quite a bit higher. I hate betting off tracks. I would be interested in seeing the number of off tracks in NY in Nov during last few years.

Even though California is weaker they still have the most juice. That's the bottom line. Belmont will get it in 2013 but look for Santa Anita to be the permanent home after that. I wouldn't be happy about that if I didn't live in California either.

Don't be bitter, you know I'm right. A lot more people care about this than the morning line on a dumb match race.

If it becomes the permanent home, the BC will wither and die.

They have a provision in bill SB1072 that says they can raise the take for the Breeders Cup. It's all been planned for a few years.

What does that matter?
NYRA is getting slots sooner or later. They will be able to up purses, and maybe even beat BC purses, if they choose to do so. The vast majority of horsemen would just as soon stay home and run for the same money. The BC races are so diluted now they are pretty much your typical stakes races these days. Euros aren't going to be big on shipping that far to run on real dirt either.

If NYRA does run their own day against the BC, it would be the perfect example of US horse racing shooting themselves over and over again. It'll remind me when you had the Indycar series (w/ Indy 500) and the 'Cart' series w/ U.S. 500) run on the same day just to see who had the bigger <bleep>

4% or 5% more in takeout in a Breeders Cup race is huge money. It sucks but that's the way it is.

But if the BC repeatedly gives NYRA the finger, why wouldn't they? Sometimes competition is good, it kills the weak one. I have no doubt which that will be, and it isn't NYRA.

All you have to do is look at the Players involved. It's not a close call.

It is only huge money if people bet it at the same levels. All signs point to that not happening.
