Yes, congratulations to Curlin, horse of the year.
Bred in Kentucky, U.S.A.

Curlin is the workaholic, true blue professional and proven time after time now to be the HOTY. He is your count on me horse, cannot go wrong with a Smart Strike (I just heard that, whadIknow!) No really I was so impressed by his grinding up the mud yesterday in the stretch did everyone see him chew up the race and spit it out! It is as if he had heard all the tight turn talk himself and was showing us. Yes he is it!!

What a performance by Curlin. It looked like an evenly matched field on paper but he dominated the race.

Also I was impressed with Hard Spun. Many didn't want him running in the classic but I believe he proved himself to not only be the 2nd best 3yo yesterday, but the 2nd best 3yo at 10 furlongs

No argument from me. Curlin is as deserving as it gets. No one race wonder this champion.

I hope the next time the connections of a Triple Crown aspirant in good form consider declining to pursue the series in favor of the BC remembers Street Sense's final dilemma.

Perhaps it was the muddy track that did him in Saturday, but would Curlin be the lock for HOY today if Street Sense had won the Belmont?

Horse Sense = Bird in the hand (or a mud lark).

I do not agree Curlin should be crowned so soon.
I still think SS has a validc alim to HOY
While watched SS show up from last years BC right thorugh this years, he performed in all the big ones. Culrin was a good - not as good-good not-as good. HOY means of the year - SS was at the top of the heap the whole year. Curlin was beaten by a filly who could not come back and win and that has to be a mjor factor, IMHO.
you get beat by a girl, get outta town.

You can't be serious. Curlin holds a 2-1 edge over him and completely dominated him in the classic. You are making SS sound like Forego here. Showed up for all the big ones? He had only 2 derby preps, skipped the belmont, chose the Jim Dandy over the more competitive haskell and lost his G2 BC prep to Hard Spun while Curlin was busy beating the best older horse in the country in a Gr1. I would even put Hard Spun ahead of SS in the HOY voting.

Curlin may very well not win an Eclipse award because of his connections.

Curlin

Curlin is an exceptional racehorse that is maturing into becoming a great racehorse. His performance in the 1 ¼ miles BC Classic was a “thing of beauty” with his incredible acceleration and long strides. But his win in the JCGC is more memorable to me because he ran as if he had some to prove and prove is what he did.

However I realize that we all have different choices when it comes to selecting the outcome of a horserace, but I cannot understand the pre-race banter about Lawyer Ron, a horse that has never won beyond 1 1/8 miles and Street Sense a horse that beat Curlin in the KY Derby and was beaten by Curlin in the Preakness going off as the BC Classic favorite. But I guess that is why they run the races, to prove what is really true.

I am afraid this will proabably be it for him as far as racing is concerned.

I do know this much. I was estatic to see him as an overlay. One value bet I was sure eager to make.
