Most people would take these teams over Boise or TCU, but that logic is based on reputation mainly. These small conferences produce some great teams that are capable of beating anybody and that includes the best of the Big 12, SEC, PAC 10, or any other conference. I also took Alabama over Utah last year. Remember how that worked out?

Oregon over Boise huh? I guess the actual game that was played this season shouldn't count.

You are sooooo right, since Oregon hasn't changed at all since that first game...

Don't you think Boise is a little better too after winning 12 in a row?

That's what get me! Even when teams like Boise State, TCU, or Utah beat the "big boys" on the field, they still get no respect.

All you hear is "Alabama/Oklahoma had nothing to play for.", Oregon took them lightly or they aren't the same team now that they were." "They couldn't do it if they had to play a tougher schedule!"....excuses, excuses!

If Texas wins I hope the nation gives them the credit they deserve. This Bama team is healthy / talented and extremely confident. Texas deserves tremendous respect if they pull this off and should get two titles if they win convincingly imo.

Great match up in styles and coaching…enjoy.

That was possibly the worst game between two "good" teams I've ever seen.

Oregon? The same Oregon that couldn't get a first down against Boise for almost three full quarters? The same Oregon that looked pathetic against mediocre Ohio St? Come on....

I don't think that there's any team out there that gets more out of its talent than Boise St.

Probably, but I still think each of these teams deserved a shot at one of the BCS conference teams. Having them play each other was a snub, plain and simple. Was a fun game to watch though. That place was loud.

Have to agree with Pace Cap'n, Al. Maybe I'm burned out from a huge football weekend, but I couldn't hang with that one past the first quarter. And I'm happy to see this morning that I didn't miss much.

If this type of game happens in the BCS title game, it will be said it is because of great defense. Of course, since they are non BCS schools, it isn't possible.

Seriously, I doubt either of these teams was all the motivated to play each other again. A shot at the BCS schools would have been huge.

You can have a good game with great defense(TEX-NEB), but last night's game wasn't one of them. That not to say if they played again tonight that it wouldn't be a good game.

I didn't think the game was all that bad. After a Sunday full of NFL, where more than just a couple of teams played with about as much heart as the cowardly lion, at least BSU and TCU were trying, if not executing perfectly. And if TCU had completed that final drive and sent the game into overtime, everybody would have been talking about how amazing it was that they went 99 yards in 1 minute. The rowdy crowd sure added to it; I bet they closed the roof so it would sound even louder.

Can't argue with any of that. In fact, it was the numbing drudgery of Sunday that contributed to hitting my wall early in the Fiesta. I just wasn't up for it, and the game failed to draw me in.

I did like the Frogs' unies, though. The pants looked almost like dress pants, the helmets were cool. Compared to the oversaturated Boisies, they were way ahead on style points.

Two things people harped on TCU for since august, came to light.

1- their o-line can't hold their blocks in that scheme vs good defenses (at least week after week). They bailed on that WB stretch play they burned Utah with b/c they were owned at the LOS....And when they couldn't pound it up the gut it became Panic Time. Throw the ball, whch leads to Knock #2.

2-Andy Dalton can't throw the sideline route, downfield....I read this on boards, didn't think anything of it till last nite. When they got down, Boise defended TCU 'inside-out' downfield. The corners basically dared him to throw to the sidelines & picked him clean all nite.

Btw, I think Colt can be had on said #2 vs superior talent. Our WR's just don't run crisp routes consistently, giving the CB's a clean jump. Lot of his picks were our WR's fault. Not Colt's. Bama might have a field day if Malcolm, Pleasant and Kirkendoll don't pull their head out of their arces and sleepwalk on their routes like they did half the year....

Colt really misses Quan Cosby (and needs another Shipley). Quan pulled him outta the fire a lot for 3 yrs. Ultra dependable. Doesn't round off his routres, catches everything his way & was a leader.
