To be only 17.

Condolences go out to this young rider's family.
It's an extremely dangerous job these riders have.

He won the Ellis park meet with 51 wins. He was going to be a star at the highest level.
Very tragic.

So sad. 17 and a bright future. I lost a best friend at 18 and now I'm 57. It takes on a whole new meaning now then it did then. RIP young man.

+1

Sobering confirmation of the risk these jockeys take; a visit to the rail at our local track shows the speed and size of the horses, the risk the jockeys take and the fragility of the horses too.

RIP to a young man gone too soon.

So very sad about this tragedy for his spirit, and all who knew him, or enjoyed his riding.

As we say goodbye to Juan Saez , Australia is mourning the deaths of apprentice Caitlin Forrest and Carly-Mae Pye who both lost their lives
on the track . I was shocked as these all took place in the last few days .

But in general I agree with your post .

May they Rest In Peace !

Jennie Rees posted a photo of him from her iPhone, on twitter.

I was shocked how young this kid looked. I would have guessed 13 yrs old, tops.

I asked her in a tweet if I could post it here. No answer

So sad. I watched him ride this summer at Ellis Park and the kid had talent. A reminder how dangerous this sport can be. RIP

Amen.

Juan, Caitlin and Carly-Mae remind us of the human toll. The equine toll is there too.

RIP all around.
