I always wait on Cliffy's spin for a laugh. Sometimes I think finally a Democrat has looked so foolish, Cliffy can't spin it, but he does. He is damn near as good as Psaki was, but we never know if he could do it on the fly like she did.

He really should of put on a dress, developed a lisp, and went to apply for the job of press secretary.

Agreed, Inner Dirt. It is amazing to listen to Democrats talk about the Abortion issue ONLY affect Democrat voting. No chance it would have an effect on Conservative Voting. Or that it could be a turn-off to Moderate Democrats who realize...like it or not...that there are bigger Fish to fry in this Country right now.

Yes, there are bigger fish to fry. But abortion is a pretty big fish in its own right. Besides, Democrats are also better at Frying Fish.

In my mind, there are nine issues in this election. I will do a separate post on each one in this thread. Feel free to comment as you choose.

Abortion rights.

Some Republicans support abortion rights, but most do not. And those who do are generally not as dedicated as Democrats.

I am a pro choice Republican for the very fact I believe nothing good can come from forcing a woman to have an unwanted child. Too many kids that are wanted are poorly raised.

GunSafety

Democrats are concerned about the safety of their children in school or at the park. They worry about being targeted at the mall, the grocery store, the movie theater or the Fourth of July Parade. Republicans worry, “Kin ah, keep muh gun?”

Crime

Regardless of the causes of crime, crime will go down if fewer people own guns.
There will be less crime if more people earn a sufficient wage to care of their families: if more people feel they have power to effect their lives positively, if people don’t feel disenfranchised and oppressed.

The economy.

Jobs continue to grow beyond what was lost in the pandemic and even if they hadn’t, an new job this month is a job somebody didn’t have last. Month. Also wages continue to grow.. Creditcard delinquencies are at record lows. Foreclosures are at record lows. Delinquent mortgage payments are at record lows,

Inflation

Still a problem. However gas prices, the major stimulus of inflation have now dropped 45 consecutive days. Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act will only accelerate the deceleration of inflation

Voter Suppression.

One party is passing draconian anti democratic voter suppression laws. One party supports universal suffrage.

Taxes.

Democrats want the wealthy to pay their fair share. Republicans want the wealthy to pay nothing. And get a rebate.

When James Carville made that iconic statement in 1992 unemployment was at 7.6%. Today it’s at 3.6%

We averaged 100,000 new jobs a month. Today we are averaging half a million.

In 1992, GDP ROSE 3.63%

In 2021 it rose 9.08%

Yes GDP has fallen this year thus far. I believe 1.5%. Still a very positive growth over the last year and a half.

In other words, “It’s not the economy, stupid.” It’s other things that are so much more important long term. Besides, the people who are trying to make you ignore the fundamental issues of democracy and Justice are the worst people to defend your financial well being- unless you happen to be a billionaire.
