Tariffs have consequences. Usually unintended

Many of the tariffed products coming here from China are produced there for foreign companies, including American firms. As a result of Trump's tariffs, many of those firms are considering relocating to other countries, or have already done so. They certainly aren't looking at the US. Two of the big winners in the tariff wars appear to be Vietnam and Mexico.

True. An American company moving its production from China to Vietnam could result in even lower prices for American consumers.

We don't need any "long term trade deals" with the government involved. And if the government is involved, "long term" means from now until the next election.

China is a one party dictatorship that can play the long game. And ruthless enough to let their countrymen suffer to accomplish this goal.

Saw a concerning piece today that China makes a very large number of our medicines and that could be serious for us.

Like oil, we need to be independent on ALL necessities of life.
WE can and must do so.

Paul Krugman has been wrong a lot in recent years. But like all left-leaners who are often wrong, they double and triple down until they eventually hit the ball again and proclaim themselves geniuses of the highest order...and their sycophants will lick it up and down like trained seals.

It's not a left/right thing to know the 5-25% tax has to come from somewhere...
